Introduction Martin Luther King was a celebrated world icon for his role in the push for equality and campaign against racial discrimination. King noted that the minority races in the use went through very hard life. The superior races owned property and lived by the sweat of the minority races. King’s letter from Birmingham contains reputable information that can be used to criticize the various viewpoints regarding life activities held by people. In order to utilize the argumentative skills learned from King’s letter, we focus on the Softball Coaches Toolkit. The toolkit contains valuable information that can result in improved results when used appropriately (Horn and Metler-Armijo 55). The kit is useful to both new and experienced coaches since it gives a general overview of the coaching career and practices. Coaches who have utilized the toolkit appropriately have praised it effectiveness as far as the performance of the team is concerned. However, the Softball Coaches Toolkit has some issues that discredit its functionality and efficiency. The key concern of this paper is to develop an argumentative essay on a Softball Coaches Toolkit. Analysis of Softball Coaches Toolkit A Softball Coaches Toolkit is a manual containing a guideline to direct coaches on how to go about executing their tasks. Items included in the manual include practice plans, games, motivation, communication strategies, and team uniform among others. The information and content in the manual are open to criticism since it does not give 100% prove of practicality. The manual provides a variety of motivational methods for the team players. The motivational methods presented in the toolkit do not recognize personality differences of the team players. People have varied personality types and thus react differently to motivation. In addition, personality type affects an individual’s choice motivational factors. Since people have different personality types, there is no uniform motivation method that can be used in a team. What appears to be good to one personal might mean the opposite to another person. The Softball Coaches Toolkit is designed to provide guidelines for coaches in softball teams. In essence, the kit offers a comprehensive overview of the requirements in softball coaching. The coaches are provided with the general information relating to the field. The general information provided in the kit is not applicable to all team. In essence, different teams have different structures. In this case, some guidelines provided in the manual are not relevant to some teams. In this regard, the manual cannot be credit as a useful tool for all softball coaches since it does not consider the differences that arise in the various baseball teams. In essence, the manual gives general guidelines for coaches and not specific directions regarding coaches’ activities in their respective teams. It is imperative to identify that a useful tool should be all-sided; that is it should consider the situation and structures of various teams in the baseball game. Ignoring some factors renders the manual fruitless and, therefore, unfit to use in the wider industry. The toolkit encourages coaching aspects such allowing the trainees to learn what the game entails and then guide them to practices. People have different understanding capacities and react differently to the information they receive. In this, coaching of softball game players requires a deep understanding of the ability of different players to initialize concepts. In essence, the ability of players to put theory into practice is very critical as far as coaching is concerned. The manual does not provide the coach with sufficient judgmental skills for understanding the capacity of players to internalize theoretical concepts and putting them into practicality. In this regard, the manual appears to be incomplete and, therefore, inapplicable in some instances. Counter arguments The toolkit is founded on the experience of coaches and the traditional coaching techniques. The kit does give sufficient room for accommodating modern changes. The improvements in technology and the changes in the sporting curriculum have brought massive changes in the coaching career. The modern technology offers numerous platforms where coaches can meet with tea members. For instance, coaches can offer their services by sharing video clips on YouTube and other audiovisual platforms. In addition, the internet has become a useful research tool for coaches and softball players. In this regard, coaches should focus on developing the use of modern technology in team development and the coaching career. Essentially, softball coaches should encourage interaction between players via the available modern technology platforms to improve performance and social relations (Ross 25). Research has shown that people working as a team can learn many things from each other if provided with the required resources and a conducive environment. Basically, the modern technology provides an ample and enabling environment for peers to learn from each other. Over reliability on the Softball Coaches Toolkit can be harmful to a team. The kit does not offer specific means for addressing issues within a team. In essence, the guideline given is just general for all softball teams. In this case, overreliance on the kit by coaches might affect their ability to detect future uncertainties in the coaching career. The kit does not give comprehensive information to handle future challenges in the baseball game. Nohr (75) states that a reliable kit should offer the platforms for detecting present and future risks that the coach and team, in general, are likely to experience. Training is a fundamental tool for the success of the team. In essence, through training players learn new tactics and also improve on the tactics acquired in past experience in the game. In this regard, it is crucial to follow the guidelines that empower skill development and acquisition of new tactics in the game. In this regard, coaches should not over rely on a single coaching method or model. Coaches should be diversified in executing their duties and in their efforts to improve quality performance development. Research has shown that coaches who employ diversified coaching strategies end up formulating long lasting team policies. Communication is very crucial coaching tool. The language used by the coaches to the trainees is very delicate in determining the end results. The language used by players and coaches may instigate ethnic and racial conflicts. Ethnic and racial conflicts can be very disastrous if they affect the team members. Ethnic and racial discrimination have been controversial social challenges in world over the years. In the early 1990s, ethnic and racial discrimination cases were very rampant. People used to be jailed and tortured on the basis of racial origin. For instance, the black Americans experienced the extreme consequences of racial discrimination. Some of the activists fighting for equality and end of the racial discrimination were arrested and jailed for many years. Social injustices by then slowed the struggle towards a free world. The Softball Coaches Toolkit does not cover the issue of communication comprehensively. The kit does not discuss the timings of the communication process between the coaches and the players and the communication among the players. The effectiveness of communication is largely dependent on timing. Poor timing may negatively affect the conveyance of information within the team. The kit should limit the language used to avoid conflicts and misunderstanding among the players and between the players and the coach. When people are not limited to the language they use, the language used can be obscene and, therefore, disrupt the peaceful coexistence among the players and between the players and the coach. The softball field keeps on changing. New developments are introduced in the field from time to time. The softball manual does no appreciate changes in the field and the environment of the softball games. When choosing the model to use, people should be cautious to avoid eliminating the room for expansion. The developments in the entertainment industry are usually subsequent and, therefore, the coaching manual used should give room for expansion. The softball field is not stagnant and therefore it is subject expansion. Since the toolkit does not provide expansion guidelines and policies, the user is left to wonder which action to take in case an expansion need arises. Conclusion The Softball Coaches Toolkit is a training manual that aids coaches to execute their duties without much struggle. The manual offers over two hundred training tools in the softball games. Despite the much praise of the manual, several challenges can be identified. For instance, the manual does not give clear strategies for solving internal problems encountered in the coaching career. In addition, the manual does not address the issue of communication problems in the training process. In essence, the manual does not give much interest on incorporating modern technology in the training programs. In this regard, the manual cannot be used solely since it leaves some areas halfway covered. In summary, when undertaking a project, it is necessary to employ numerous approaches to avoid potential failures due to future uncertainties. Leaders should always have alternatives to minimize the chances of failing their followers. Work Cited:Top of FormBottom of Form Horn, Patty and Metler-Armijo, Kristin. Toolkit for Mentor Practice.
