In fact, only individuals who have a talent or passion for a particular game in sport activities could fathom the rage that one feels towards a person that perceives sport as a waste of resources and drag crises into sports. Sport activists in universities that run the main intercollegiate athletic programs can evident a painful stab they have sustained from ant-sport persons. The major hindrance to quality sports is the presence of corruption, untrusted management and public policies in conflict always with sports’ objectives. These sport destructive issues that lead to poor quality of the product for fans. The quality educational life and experience for athletic students has disappeared, as there are no more opportunities for lively athletics competition. In fact, these selfish individuals have termed the sport as a waste of money (Rhoden pg16). The intercollegiate board and sport faculty are facing a budgetary constraint due to withdrawal of athletic supports. Moreover, athletes and students as well as alumni get to suffer when their best teams gain penalties and fines for an allegation for violations of NCAA rules. It blocks the advancement opportunities for student athletes in an athletic competition, in the division 1 level or below. However, there are no reforms in place to give justice to these victims without adversely affecting those benefiting from this unfair structure in existence. Therefore, radical reform entails both winners and losers, and always losers will tend to resist reforms and retain their privileges. It is true to say that, in a radical reform, the intercollegiate sport programs without self-sustaining aspects, have less claim on the surplus proceeds resulting from activities of other sports’ programs in university than any other educational program offered on campus. However, one should know that the sponsorship of self-sustained intercollegiate sports is one of the legitimate ways for colleges and universities to enrich the cultural experience of their students, alumni, faculty and the neighborhood community. It will be very prudent to consider societal benefits that emanate from non-revenue sports in Division I as equal to those that result from a Division III level of the sport. There is a need to note that intercollegiate sports offer equal opportunity to all students without any discrimination. It is worth noting that the awards, full scholarship, and a cash subsidy to talented athletes cannot exceed half of the cost of education in universities. Therefore, to combat corruption issues in intercollegiate sports, compliance should be facilitated by ensuring strict and tight audit of the top players in the management. All the stakeholders need to adopt the standard law enforcement techniques established by the NCAA and stiff penalties or fines to be enacted against rules’ violators. It is through these means that elite athlete can find himself or herself competing for athletic opportunities. These measures should be incorporated in radical reforms set to enable the intercollegiate sports. There is no sport fanatic that will auger with critics claiming that the intercollegiate athletic programs harm the educational experience of students at the university. Some economists tend to argue that intercollegiate sport imposes huge economic costs on universities and colleges. Nevertheless, this is not true in a radical reforming economy. The intercollegiate sports need effective sound policy that conforms with other public and social policies. It is only through this would eradicate the ever conflicting policies and mitigate non-meaningful spending. According to social research, intercollegiate sports bear a large contribution of the social values thorough students’ interaction. It also tends to nurture and empower talents of individual that in the end becomes a foundation for economic life of an individual. There is a needless to say that the benefits of the intercollegiate outweigh its cost and thus, there is a logical reason to continue supporting and maintaining the intercollegiate athletic programs. It is also very imperative to note that the non-economic benefits to elite or student athletes could be achieved at a minimal cost. Universities and colleges benefit in a big way through though supporting sports. For instance, it is through games that most colleges acquire publicity especially if their intercollegiate athletic teams outshine in sports. Therefore, the university can build a good image or reputation through sports. It is in this regard that university should spend its fund to subsidize intercollegiate athletics. It needs to provide for such funding in its budgetary allocations every year. Many public policies have been brought on board in an attempt to enforce and reinforce an equal opportunity right to both sexes. A male sex has been given an upper hand against a female sex for a long time, but right to equity is eradicating such traditional perception. The right to equity is in pursuit of equal education for women and men. All over the universe, there is much encouragement directed to women and girls to participate in intercollegiate and interscholastic sports. It is through athletic sports that girls seize a chance to exhibit their capabilities and talents. In fact, the right to equal opportunity is communicated in the society through subsidizing the women’s sport largely and awarding the accordingly. Not only does the society directly benefit from intercollegiate sports but it also enjoys indirect benefits such as the pride of shared by parents, friends and family when a student athlete wins an athletic competition. In addition, most colleges and universities lure academically desirable students to their institution due to the presence of quality intercollegiate opportunities. Some institution further, offer academic merit scholarships to student athletes who continue in sports to higher-level equivalent to elite clubs. If Division I programs were abolished, most student athletes pursuing their life in sports will be affected and would not make their dreams come true. It would in turn affect the society in the end as possible talents may not be nurtured and supported. For many decades, critics of sports in universities have bemoaned about the intensifying cheating by college officials or supporters that compromise NCAA rules to allow one university to gain a competitive advantage at the expense of other universities. A number of scandals have risen to incriminate the corrupt officials. The research reveals that these ill-motive individuals avoid transparency and accountability, and use vague and undefined ways to embezzle and defraud the funds allocated for intercollegiate sport programs. As a result, the morale to participate in sports of student athletes declines as the exploitation leaves them with almost nothing. In the presence of complicated scandals and corruption, most teams would break and disappear. It is through radical reform in all aspect of intercollegiate sports that could end up solving this problem. NCAA ought to stiffen their rules and heavily penalize those violate or break these rules (Stafford p.11). In conclusion, the concept of having a prudent management does not need any commercial operation to break even every year. A managerial objective, in place, to have a radical reform in intercollegiate sports would allow and harmonize sport programs in universities and colleges. This would greatly benefit the young people with potential talents that need to be nurtured and supported in Division I sport activities. It is true that one effect of radical reform is to radically change the nature of intercollegiate athletic conferences.
