The team joined the NFL in 1960 and initially played as an expansion team (NFL History). Today, they are headquartered in Irving, Texas (Philips). With a national fan following throughout the states, the Dallas Cowboys have made several records in the sports history, and have received many accolades for their performance (Team History). The Cowboys have a record of straight sellouts both in the season games and for the post-season games (Team History). The streak of sellouts began in 1990 from their hometown of Texas Stadium (Team History), scoring 79 sellouts, and another 81 sellouts later outside of the hometown (Team History), totaling a hundred and sixty sellouts, making an NFL record (Team History).

Apart from this, they also made an unbroken NFL record of consecutive winning seasons, numbering twenty, from 1966 to 1985 (Team History), making not only NFL history but also a record in all the professional sports history (Team History). They have also been the most featured team in the Super Bowl, sharing this prestigious title with the Pittsburgh Steelers (Team History). The Forbes magazine gives astounding information about the team in terms of the economic values associated with them. To begin with, the Cowboys are the most successful NFL franchise, with annual income of more than two and half million dollars.

Being worth around $1.6 billion dollars, they are the highest valued sports franchise in the United States, and second in the world (Klayman). Some interesting facts about the team and the team members further establishes the team as a force to reckon with. Emmitt Smith of the Cowboys holds the NFL record for the maximum number of touchdowns. The team has been touted as “America’s Team” by Tex Schramm. The team has had two of its Quarterbacks positioned as Super Bowl MVP from 2001 onwards, Roger Staubach and Troy Aikman.

In 1981, Everson Walls of the team made a record with eleven interceptions, and in 1998, Emmitt Smith ran thirteen hundred and thirty two yards for a touchdown, not only breaking the internal record of the Cowboys, but also setting an NFL record (Dallas Cowboys). Tex Schramm of the Cowboys was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and later into the Ring of Honor, a circle of retirees of the game that the Cowboys have especially set up for induction of the retired players. This ring was initially displayed at the Texas Stadium, but is now shifted to the Cowboys Stadium.

In 1995, Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith, and Michael Irving, together known as “The Triplets”, were inducted into the ring (Team History). The Cowboys have had the privilege of having a stadium built and named after them, which has now become their home stadium, in Tarrant County, Arlington, Texas. It finished construction and opened in 2009. It is the largest domed stadium in the world, with a seating capacity of more than a hundred thousand. It is worth around a billion dollars. The field is divided into the south and the north side, with the south side as the home side and the north side as the visitor’s side.
