Due to this reason, they were forced to practice at the whim that belonged to men. This led to lack of respect for women’s teams. This condition has, however, changed and both teams are hosting their tournament in the stadium resulting in an equal proportion of women’s fans that fill the stadiums. There is equality in the gifts given to men’s and women’s teams as opposed to the earlier condition. In the earlier days, men were given more extravagant gifts and women were given only hats as participation gifts (2).

Uniformity while giving gifts is demonstrated when men’s gifts are paid for by TD Garden and tournament receipts, while the women’s gifts are paid for by the four universities. The public is now demanding equality where the women’s Bean pot will also be moved to TD Garden to be like the males (2). Women also demonstrate more talents in Olympics. The writer also argues that there is more interest while watching women’s teams than men’s teams. A general overview of these two sports reports that men’s hockey tournament has more fans than women tournament.

This is because men are more financially supported, more violent and masculine, which attracts more viewers. Gender inequality theme illuminates clearly from this article. This is well demonstrated by the fact that men are given more expensive gifts than women. Men receive more scholarships than their women counterparts. Men’s teams are playing in bigger arenas than women, which make them have more fans than women (3). Despite passing of equality laws in sports, there are still real gaps being evidenced in sports programs.

Below are the reasons for this. Most people assume that sports are meant for men and not women. Men’s sports are still being viewed as a rite of passage in most communities.
