Innovation in America Innovation is a new idea, a device or a process that is applied so as to derive a greater or different value of resources. It can be classified as evolutionary innovation; that is usually continuous or dynamic and revolutionary innovations that can be referred to as discontinuous often disruptive and new. There are several innovations that have been witnessed in American history that have shaped the world over time. These innovations include the inventions in late 1700 up to the current time and probably future innovations.

Inventions range from of engines, electricity, telephones, air transport, television, computers, industrial robots, to the internet. The introduction of these innovations has had an impact on the world today. However, there are those which have brought about significant changes exemplified by the building of the interstate highway system, the television network and the introduction and spread of the internet. Before the construction of the interstate highway systems, transportation within cities was almost impossible due to congestion and overcrowding on the two-lane roads.

Interstate highways opened up many states due to unrestricted transportation, hence improved communication. The Introduction of a national television network brought a critical connection of people from all walks of life (Bob, 2010). People in big cities, small towns, in farming communities and even those living in remote villages were able to watch at a relatively same time. However the executives who ran the networks had power over what and when to air limiting freedom of choice for the people.

The internet on the other end brought unprecedented freedom in the world that allowed individuals with internet connection access to a lot of information without any restriction. The effect was elevated communication and exchange of knowledge to a whole new level, preventing the monopolies from the stakeholders. Although there are drawbacks arising from these innovations, the advantages overweigh the impediments. In conclusion, innovations have led to the improvement of both social and economic standards of the American people.

I believe, innovation has and is still the cornerstone of a better and well-developed standards of living and the achievement of greater freedom, as exemplified by freedom of expression and speech opened up by the internet and television. Communication and transportation have improved the American and global livelihood with its inception and development a seed of innovation. Innovation is, therefore, a backbone of future success and prosperity.Work cited:Bob, Greene. ”Innovations that Changed America”.
