nty Bay Area has many cities, airports, towns and related regional, state, in addition to national parks, linked by a network of highways, roads, railroads, tunnels, bridges and commuter rail. The joint urban area of the section is the second-biggest in California; after the Greater Los Angeles area. It is as well the fifth-biggest in the United States and the 43rd-biggest urban area in the globally (Jr and Swanson 30). The 2010 United States Census reported that the population was 7.2 million in the Bay Area, with 50.

4% female and 49.6% male (Jr and Swanson 33). In 2010 the ethnic structure of the Bay Area was 52.6% White counting white Hispanic, 0.8% Native American, 6.6% non-Hispanic African American, 23.2% Asian (5.1% Filipino, 7.9% Chinese, 3.3% Indian, 1.0% Korean, 2.5% Vietnamese, 0.9% Japanese, 0.2% Cambodian, 0.2% Pakistani, 0.2% Laotian, 0.1% Burmese, 0.1% Thai), 0.6% Pacific Islander (0.1% Samoan, 0.1% Tongan, 0.1% Fijian, >0.1% Native Hawaiian, >0.1% Guamanian,), 10.7% from other races, and 5.5% from two or additional races (Jr and Swanson 34).

The populace was 23.5% Latino or Hispanic of any race (1.3% Salvadoran, 17.9% Mexican, 0.6% Guatemalan, 0.6% Nicaraguan, 0.5% Puerto Rican, 0.2% Cuban, and 0.3% Peruvian). The Chinese people in the Bay Area are concerted in San Francisco, where 31% of the Bay Areas population of Chinese American dwells, and in Oakland as well as in the Silicon Valley area of the South Bay. It is also home to a major Indian American society (Jones and Terry 30). The San Francisco Bay region has more than 382,952 Filipino Americans.

This is one of the biggest communities of Filipino people away from the Philippines with the biggest percentage of Filipino Americans directed themselves inside Daly City. More than one hundred thousand Vietnamese ancestry people reside inside San Jose city confines, the biggest population of any metropolis in the world away from Vietnam.
