The Shadow of Hate America is a nation that is characterized by high level of diversity in the community. However, the relationship among Americans has been such abrasive owing to the high level of intolerance that has marred the country from early periods of slavery. The documentary The Shadow of Hate provides a perfect spectacle for peering into the dark history of intolerance in the American community since early periods of American slavery. Certain individuals or factions of the American society have been dreaded, hated, isolated and discriminated against on the basis of their races.

In the documentary, I find it hurting and tear pulling to hear how Africans were treated like things that had no right to freedom and good life. At the onset of American slavery, Africans were brought into America in chains and mistreated in the hands of fellow human beings. This was the highest order of atrocity committed against mankind. As a Christian, and many who share the same view, all men were created equal before God and no one deserves to undergo such a harsh treatment as witnessed in the documentary.

Similarly, no one has the mandate to subject the persons of fellow human being to torture and treat them with high level of malice as witnessed in the documentary. How does one gather the courage to chop off body parts of his fellow human being and perpetuate blatantly crime against humanity without fear or remorse? Clearly, the Anglo-Saxon were driven by sheer greed and pride that they perceived the Christian refuges looking for a safe ground and slaves voyaged to America an absolute threat to their existence and usual way of life.

The white superiority and high level of stereotyping is a sure channel to societal disintegration and spreads hates rather than unite people for a common good. It is the high level of mistreatment, maiming, enslaving and killing of the weak that has propagated hatred in America to date. Were the blacks ever going to forget their lives as slaves in the hands of the whites? Were the Chinese ferried to America going to assume their past experience? For as long as the whites still viewed their slaves as things, the only sure outcome would be widening rift among different races, which only breed more intolerance among Americans.

One faction of the society that was victimized in one area perpetrated crimes in other instances just to get even. The long psychological and historical predicament may still be motivators for some people to victimize and discriminate against others in the present America. The blatant display of discrimination and intolerance in the documentary contravenes the founding principles of the country. America is supposed to be the Promised Land where everyone wishes to live in. it is where people would seek refuge when exposed to the threat of extermination.

However, we see assaults, killings and open discrimination towards certain members of the American society. It exposes America as harsh, inhabitable and deadly place to tread. The country appears in the documentary as a field of misery and death for people who invade its borders in search of better life. Even though there have been justice and measures to dispel intolerance among Americans, the dark past of intolerance, social injustices and racism still haunts the nation to-date.
