Writing Assignment #2- Turning Stones The phrase “turning stones” generally refers to a story of a young Midwesterner who came to the big city for the first time. In specific reference to the book under study, “turning stones” is an attempt by a parent to graft onto the harsh description of families. The author lives the faces of individual children and their mothers. This was the finest way he could conceive and stir up the tenderness as well as help the readers of his work consider the families distress and anguish on an equivalent scale that would have been used for the children they loved and wished to safeguard (Parent 295). 2) I disagree with Marc’s involvement in the case where the child died because he was trying his best to save the life of the child but it died in the process.

The evidence that warranted the removal of the child his persistence to get inside the building and see if the child was present and the evidence the warranted the child to remain at home is insisting that Laura had to stay at home with the baby instead of accompanying him(Parent 181). 3) The hex is about a mysterious woman by the name Delia Gammon. A hex was a magic charm covering the woman’s body and all her belonging including her children. My position on how I think cultural differences in parenting should be addressed in child welfare and law enforcement is that no harmful culture should be allowed by the law to deny the child their social welfare (Parent 170).

Law enforcement should ensure only beneficial cultural practices that will not harm the child are left to continue running. 4) The psychological, financial, family support and other kinds of resources identified by Marc as assets to help him with his parenting are; food, clothing. Housing, counseling and encouragements and well as parental love and care (Parent 310). 5) Loving, caring, disciplining, mentoring, educating, keeping and warm and showing appreciation. 6) Adoption is a process whereby a person assumes the parenting roles of another person and in the process all rights and responsibilities are permanently transferred together with filiations from the birth parents (Melina and Roszia 9).

Adoption has changed considerably over centuries with is former focus shifting from adult adoption and inheritance issues toward children and the creation of the family. The structure ahs moved from recognition of continuity between the adopted and kin toward allowing relationships of lessened intensity. Today’s adoption which involves open, private and closed is a primary vehicle serving the needs of homeless, neglected abused and runaway children. However, the process involves both benefits and risks (Melina and Roszia 11).

For instance, open adoption is portrayed as a beneficial adoption because the birth parents do not lose the child and the adopted child does not lose the biological parents. However, there are losses in open adoption. For instance, the biological parents loses their day to day roles to the child as the biological parents and the adopted child is not given an opportunity to grow and develop in his or her family of origin hence the child may feel insecure or rejected. Generally adoption of whichever nature has more risks as compared to the benefits.

Issues like cultural variation are very sensitive to the development of the child and should not be taken for granted. The genetic and historical link of the child can never be destroyed under whichever circumstance. Works Cited Melina Ruskai, L and Roszia Kaplan S. the open adoption experience.
