Her stepsisters are envious and bitter of her beauty and charm due to their plain and awkward social stature. After the death of her father, Cinderella is cruelly mistreated by her stepmother and sisters by being forced to work as a slave in her own home (Wood 25). Despite all the difficulties in her life, Cinderella still managed to remain a warmhearted girl who was kind and gentle to every being around her even the birds and mice that lived nearby.
