There are various types of social issues that affect the current generation, they include; religious affiliations, sexual orientations, unemployment, racism, domestic violence as well as pollution. These issues affect different societies on different dimensions depending on the ways of life exhibited by that society. However, this discussion will focus on unemployment owing to the fact that it is the most common current social issue. Unemployment is a situation that occurs when the number of qualified persons seeking employment opportunities supersedes the amount of the existing job opportunities hence leading to a situation of higher number of jobless person in a specific region (topics.nytimes.com n.d). Social Context of Unemployment: This is one of the social issues that have been perceived negatively by the current society.
It is majorly perceived to be as a result of lack of resources, man-made and natural resources. In some cases, social scientists have suggested that unemployment may occur due to poor social networks as well as inappropriate social structures for instance; political conflicts, diseases and lack of social amenities such as educational facilities. It has also been viewed as contributing factor to the level of poverty in the society hence hindering development. There are various contemporary ethical concerns that are directly linked to the unemployment rates.
On the contemporary ethical concerns that relates to the unemployment rate are the ethical issues associated with provision of welfare and charity: Welfare is usually generated and channeled through governments and geared towards helping specific members of the society, the unemployed groups inclusive (topics.nytimes.com n.d).
