Violence against Women Violence against women has been defined by scientists in many ways; this point of view has been shape by research methods adopted. Different disciplines have different research questions; these research questions lead to specific data that are obtained. Those researching violence against women often define this malice according to the data that they obtain. Goals and objectives of studying violence against women differ depending on disciplines; there are many disciplines that can be used to study violence against women.

Some of them are public health approach, traditional behavioral approach and criminologist approach. All these approaches of studying violence against women have different objectives (DeKeseredy, 2011). The public health approach focuses on factors that may impact the physical well being of women, these physical atrocities are injuries and potential deaths. The main aims of public health approach are to reduce the number of injuries and deaths cause by violence. The behavioral sciences such as the sociology and psychology uses an approach that aims at protecting the victim, this approach deals with the results of violence such psychological trauma and treatment of such conditions.

Using this approach, sociologists and psychologists want to understand human behavior and possible ways of preventing violence. However, the criminologists concentrate on the perpetrators; they wish to understand the behavior of criminal, and they aim understanding perpetrators and the underlying reason for their actions (DeKeseredy, 2011) The findings on the research against women depend on the approach used and the discipline. What I would like to be changed is how they deal with the criminal justice in cases of battered women.

What should be understood is what push husband, to violently abuse his wife, the psychological method should be used to understand the men behavior. Using this approach I will like to obtain facts underlying motive that push men to violent abuse their loved ones. Obtaining these facts will enable me to address the problem from perpetrators point of view, understanding this will enable give possible ways of preventing violence. ReferenceDeKeseredy, W. (2011). Violence against Women: Myths, Facts, Controversies.
