A bare minimum of comfortable living would be about $1500/month, and that is if one is lucky in finding an apartment.

These figures are all correct. The TNAF would not come anywhere near supporting the family with a comfortable lifestyle – it would probably fail to even cover necessities. Entertainment could be cut, saving 120/month, and clothing could be significantly reduced. Groceries might be able to be reduced by significantly limiting diet (lots of rice/pasta, few fresh foods) but this would compromise health. Transit passes might be able to be cut, but this would likely lead to needing to live in a more urban place, meaning higher rent.
Absolutely not – it would probably be more like living on the line of starvation and destitution.
No, the extra costs (such as another bedroom, higher food costs, more clothing costs, etc.) would never keep pace with the added financial benefit.
Living in poverty would mean dressing cheaply, which could make it harder to get a job. It would also mean that I would have no money for education, meaning that I would only be able to get low-paying jobs, which would barely keep pace with expenses even with full welfare benefits. The tightening of welfare laws could stop me from even getting the benefits I’ve already been getting. Children would be unlikely to have good school supplies, afford college, and so on.
