In spite of the fact of morality, a woman has the right to privacy and the choice to abort her fetus. The populaces that hold a "pro-life" approach argue that a woman who has an abortion is killing a child. The "pro-choice" viewpoint holds this is not the case. A fetus is not up till now a baby. The bombing of abortion clinics has occurred; those wanting access to abortion have found facilities blocked by angry pickets; telephone harassment of those who have had abortions has been widespread. And if antiabortion politics succeed, numerous women, believing they have the right to determine whether to bear children, will turn to acts of civil disobedience -- that is, they will seek illegal abortions.

Since women's lives are rarely understood to have profound public import, few identify that prior to legalized abortion socially aware women often understood themselves to be engaged in serious acts of political resistance. Be that as it may, anti-abortionists and many women experience the current situation as a genuine state of civil war.
