Marxist critiques of welfare A historical perspective Marx works were primarily based on the destruction of the capitalism. Marx was the supportive of the progressive history. When the capitalism fell, Marx was hastily looking for ways to tell the people as to why the capitalism had faced its demise and failure. Marx was very critical about the idea of capitalism. Marx was always looking for ways to decrease the support that was being given by the time's intellectuals to the idea of capitalism. By decreasing the intellectual support that capitalism was getting from the capitalists, the people could be made aware of the idea of the socialist era (Fergusson 88). Much of Marx's work included the ideas that were given out by the writers of that that time including Adam Smith, David Ricardo and Thomas Malthus. These were those authors who always argued in favor of the capitalism while the works of Marx was always speaking against there ideas of the establishment of the capitalist state. Outlines The welfare state, the idea and the final development and implementation of the idea has been surely the greatest standard achievement of the working class of the British people. The welfare state is the only way by which the British people can be taken care of in every way. The working class of the British people needs to be listened and taken care of and be dealt with properly. They have some rights that have to be looked over and be dealt with properly, therefore it is said that the welfare state is the one that can take care of the working class of the British people in a better way (Fergusson 90). The welfare state is the one that represents the socialist class. There is evidence that the parliament of the UK can make some changes by implementing the socialism or the idea of the welfare state and by finishing the capitalist idea of the state. The capitalism ideology is grave for the state is wrong but on the other side it can be better for the state (Lewis 33). The historical perspective The critique discusses the expansion of the welfare state in the chronological perspective. After the Second World War and the people all around Britain were unsatisfied with the military. During all this time the working class was on the forward block by joining up in the form of different parties as the Communist Party and this party was the one enjoying much status. (Clarke 25). Therefore the summing up effects of the external and the internal factors was causing problems for the British higher class. The working classes had been radicalized, and this was proving to be an example of the effects of the socialism against the effects of capitalism. Labor party came to power and Capital had its roots lost. As a result of this, utilizing Labor introduced the idea of the socialist or the Welfare State that serves the people giving them the health care, education benefits that are provided by the state. Finances for the state people With the increase and the buildup of the socialism, all of the financial burdens would fall on the people by the implementation of various kinds of taxes. Therefore it can be said that it is the rich community in the society who would provide much of the money to get circulated in the rest of the society. The development of the ideology of the Welfare State was one of the greatest achievements that proved to be very helpful for the British working class; taking a significant advancement towards communalism (Pierson 28). The Welfare State did serve capital and the investment, by preventing the downfall of the capitalism and becoming an organic part of the capitalist domination. Welfare system's integrating fact One of the greatest facts about the Marxist system are that it has the ability to adopt the foreign content into its own system and take it as its own part. The ideology that was sprouting up was that the capitalist system should be totally finished with no traces left behind. Or the feudal system, that is the innate part of the capital system would be integrated into the welfare system. System of Labor and wages in capitalism If we look into the capitalist mode of production, the salary labor requires principal and investment therefore the investment that is being made should be able to promise the conditions for production of the labor. This is assured by the pay that the entrepreneur pays to the laborer (Behrouzi 14). In the capitalist time and era, two distinct classes of people were noticed. The first class of the people was those who had there own properties and the second class of people were those who worked on the land owners properties. The working class people were the ones in the greater number among the people who used to work on the properties. In this time, the working class of the people was not given the liberty or in other words it can be said that the working class was too indulged in working on the properties of the property owners that the working class was not able to speak for them freely. The working class was just too indulged to think about as to how to make the living and thus to survive by just working and working without any facilities (Lewis 26). According to Marx in the capital times, the land owners or the property owners were in habit of taking in the employees and that they used to do on very low labors. This fact was given the name of congealed labor by Marx. This is the point where Marx enforces the point of valuable labor as compared to valueless labor (Clarke 22). Interdependency of labor and capital Under a capitalist system, the wage labor and capital are always interdependent. As a part of an extra handwork, the industrialist creates the essential labor, thus it can be said that the investment is always dependent on wage labor. However the labor in general is not dependent on assets. In this way physical labor must be reproduced. At the level of a family, labor is fed and cared for, whereas the labor is increased. Wages and labor in welfare systems After this the comparison has been made between the welfare state and the capitalist incomes. The communalist state is the one that provides schooling and medical benefits for all people of the working class, thereby facilitating the maintenance and reproduction of skilled labor. Education leading to production of labor in welfare system When the worker was paid, the salary could be spent, as he desired, however it was always within the limits of limited income. Capital's income was not having its desired effects for the salary makers. This trouble has been sort out by the introduction of free medical services provision and teaching. As in the socialist state the tutoring services are free of cost and are considered compulsory, manual labor is improved. Welfare State wealth can get an agreement of the production of skilled labor in a constant manner (Lewis 25). As education is both free and compulsory in the welfare system, every associate of the operational class is educated. This is because of the fact that the education services are compulsory. However in the Welfare State, because of the facilities the people having no jobs are well educated who get free health care facilities, therefore increasing capital's authority over the labor force (Clarke 55). Tax payments in capitalism and the welfare systems The investors have found out many ways to escape the taxes. For the completion of the projects in which the capitalists have invested, the capitalists recruit large number of skilled workers. As another advantage of the welfare state, it greatly helps the capitalist by decreasing the hard work that has to do to create and collect the labor. It also helps the investors in carrying out the division of labor on an international scale (Marchbank 32). The welfare State helps in increasing the skilled labor under all the possible resources, something that is very necessary for its survival (Dwyer 89). Evaluation In the welfare system and the capital state system we have come to notice many things. There has been a comparison made between the welfare system that in the other words is the socialist system or the Marxist system and the capital system. The labor is better produced in the case of the welfare system and I will agree to that. The welfare system is the system, as compared to the capital system that provides the working class people with the facilities as free education and the free health. To me this is the greatest facility that the working class has. The working class works to earn for the family and the wages that they earn might not be enough to compensate for the family's health and the education. Thus here the welfare system comes as a relief for the working class of the British people. They can afford some other luxuries when there most important needs as health and education are dealt with by the welfare state (Marchbank 45). I agree to the ideology of congealed labor that Marx put forward in the capitalist times. The land owners or the property owners were employing the labor and the employees for their properties and lands and that also on very low labors. This made the working class indulge in there working situation and just to work where they were made unable to think about themselves and thereby unable to speak for themselves freely. Marx, in addition mentioned this situation as alienation. The reason for this naming was because the working class in the capitalist times were completely separated from themselves as they were unable to think for themselves or there families. They were just working for the land owners and the land owners properties. As a rule, when the labor is good and enough for us and the families, this is the reason of us changing our lives, our nature. On the contrary if the labor is not enough than that is the reason our nature is taken away from us (Clarke 66). I agree to the point that as the education and the health system are free in the case of welfare system, this creates more brilliant work force. The educated, skilled labor force thuds increases in the state that ultimately helps the state. Comparatively in the case of the capitalist system, the education and the health system is not free. The labor force has to work much harder to afford the expenses of the education and the health of the family. Lesser capital producing lesser-educated and skilled labor force has been seen in the capitalist states (Fergusson 23). In the case of the tax evasion we see that the capitalists escape the tax payments by using many ways and the entire financial burden falls over the shoulders of the laborers. The capitalist for the accomplishment of there projects gathers as many laborers as possible. However the welfare state steps in to help the capitalist by reducing their workload of gathering the laborers. More jobs are created and therefore the labor force is increased (Clarke 56).
