The Single Accomplishment of Which I Am Most Proud - Personal Statement Example

My friend was so distraught, he neglected to tell anyone at the school he would be leaving for a short period and also did not inform them of what had happened to his beloved sister. I did not want to see my good friend expelled during such a difficult time in his life, therefore, I took it upon myself to notify the school administration, professors, and anyone else necessary about his predicament and that he would be back after all was taken care of with his family. I also thought it would be good for my friend to be around his closest comrades in his time of need, so I not only came back to our hometown with him but brought four of our closest school friends with me as well.

They stayed with me for the duration and collectively we gave our grieving friend emotional support and backing. Furthermore, there were friends who could not leave school and be with all of us, but who likewise wanted to lend their support, so I kept all of them posted on everything going on, even when these friends were scattered at different schools across the country.I wanted to be of as much help as possible to not only my friend but his family as well in this time of sadness and loss, therefore, my friends and I made ourselves available for errands, shopping, etc or whatever else the family desired during this time that would help them get through their daily lives.

My friends and I stayed in town to attend the services of our good friend's sister and returned back to school with him as a supportive safety net he could use if he felt as though he were about to fall. He and his family were eternally grateful that I had coordinated such an effort to help him and they get through this tragic loss. Because of my actions, I missed midterm week at school and put my educational status at risk. I had to appeal to the school administration and my professors for leniency since the death I had left school for was not a relative of mine, therefore, an official school leave had not been granted on my behalf.

In the end, faculty and staff agreed that my actions were honorable and I should not be penalized for such gallant efforts. Therefore, the accomplishment of which I am most proud is that of making my friend's loss a bit lighter to deal with by taking care of school issues, assisting his family with whatever they needed at the time, and by bringing home the love and support of his good friends in his desperate time of need. Although this makes me proud, I do believe any good friend would go to such measures and that my friend would do the same for me in my time of need.
