Myself as a Psychology Instructor - Personal Statement Example

 Teaching Forensic Psychology would allow me to remain involved with the latest methods and procedures while allowing me the freedom to evaluate them on their own merits. teaching would require me, as an instructor, to commit to my own ongoing education in this area, and in doing so I would become a better Forensic Psychologist. It would be a challenge to use my knowledge of Psychology in the classroom to gain insight into the students and improve teaching methods.Teaching methods can also be aided by becoming an instructor in the field of Early Childhood Education.

I find that the cognitive processes that children experience when learning is a fascinating subject, and would enjoy focusing on this area. Children are especially vulnerable to education during their formative years. Research is difficult and the results can often be surprising. It is not only an interesting field to me, but it is also important that our children begin their educational experience based on the best methods available. Being an instructor would allow me to be involved with the topic, without teaching children.

It would be rewarding to integrate the things we've learned about early childhood learning into a college classroom with adults. Instructing can be a difficult undertaking and is a big responsibility. As instructors, we are ultimately responsible for the quality of the next generation of Psychologists. Psychology can often be subjective or even contradictory. The decision of providing the most accurate and relevant information would be a daunting task. Presenting the information in a helpful and memorable fashion would be my sole obligation as an instructor.

I may be hampered as an instructor by the need of the profession to present the truth without political and social considerations while interest groups and correctness may attempt to dictate the content. These are judgments that I may find hard to make as an instructor.Yet, instructing would allow me to be immersed in the field of my choice without the restrictions that other types of employment might have. I would be free to explore new research, ideas, and methods. I would be surrounded by individuals with a common interest in the field, a ready audience anxious to discuss new thoughts and trends.

Pursuing any career in the field of Psychology dictates that I will also forever be a student. Becoming an instructor would make me a better student. It would be very satisfying to imbue a group of interested minds with the same sense of excitement and curiosity that I have for Psychology. My roles as an instructor would not be limited to just teaching Psychology, but it would also serve to generate the interest required to create the Psychologists needed for the challenges of tomorrow's world.
