Frequently, the person with social phobia feels unable to make little talk and worries about how to act: what to do with his or her hands, how to sit or stand, what sort of facial appearance to take up (Weinstock, 1999, Pp 10-11).

The National Institute of Mental Health information states that social anxiety disorder involve roughly 5.3 million adult Americans and affects men and women in equivalent proportions. Social phobia is the 3rd major psychological dilemma in the United States at present. (Furmark, Tilifors, Everz, Marteinsdottir, Gefvert, Fredrickson, 1999, Pp 414-416) This kind of phobia influences fifteen million Americans in each known year. Not like some other psychological problems, social phobia is not well understandable by the common public or by medical and mental health care experts, such as doctors, psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, social workers, and counselors.

In reality, people with social phobia are diagnosed wrongly almost 90% of the time (Magee, 1996, P1). She knows that it is not actually true, but she cannot shiver the sensation. Now, she has to talk to the person who is examining out her groceries. She tries to smile, but her voice comes out faintly. She is sure that she is making a fool of herself. Her self-reticence and anxiety rise to the roof.A man finds it complicated to walk down the lane as he is embarrassed and feels that people are examining him from their windows. Worse is that, he might run into a person on the footpath and be mandatory to say hello to them. He is not certain he can do that. His tone will grasp, his hello will sound feeble, and the other person will know he is scared.

More than everything else, he does not want any person to know that he is frightened.
