A child is always delicate and things like torture and abuse has a bad impact on them physically and mentally. It is observed that racial and ethnically abused children are disproportionately mentioned in the child welfare system. There is a lot of difference between normal social work and treatment of abused and neglected children. Children are really vulnerable to abuse and conflicts and once negatively impacted by it they need time to revive. The person who takes care of an abused child needs to have enough knowledge in child psychology.

When treating a child, the social worker needs to work with the child’s family too. And here the child’s family is absent, so the issue needs to be sorted out with extra care. An abused child need to be assured that there is no more harm surrounding them as they are less aware of their social and economical environment. These people are ill treated or mistreated in the community in various forms; these people are most probably in a crisis situation and can’t help themselves in any way. To treat these kinds of people, a social worker needs to have proper skill in psychology. As per (Hick,1998)“In doing their day-to-day work, a social worker is expected to be knowledgeable and skillful in a variety of roles. The role that is selected and used should ideally be the role that is most effective with a particular client, in the particular circumstances.” The social worker needs to be co – coordinator and a researcher too. They need to research into the background of the client to treat them many a times.

The social worker also needs to assure protection and confidentiality in their work. Some information about their clients is private and need not be let out. In such cases the social worked needs to assure protection of the information of their client. For example: in the case of a mentally ill person, his illness may have to be kept confidential and it is the duty of the social worker to protect this information. 3. Precautions for social workers The social worker as a key person in a society needs to take many precautions while performing their job.

Many a times, social workers need to visit different homes where their clients stay .For this they need to take many precautions as sometimes the clients can be agile in nature or violent.
