Case 1: Traffic violations results 40% as police get serious
HA NOI — a new Government rule that determines hard punishment for traffic law offender has proven effective in minimizing the number of rifts and raising public sense of traffic rules from its first day of action.
Ha Noi traffic police caught over 900 law offenders on Thursday when the rule results with total penalties 280 million (US$14,800).
This is observed as a 40 per cent decline in the violation cases matched with before. Law offending like illegal parking especially by taxis, red lights, without helmets driving and crossing driving speed limits have drastically reduced (Traffic violations results 40% as police get serious, 2010).
Ngo Tuan Nam from the Ha Noi Traffic Police Division who looks after the Hang Khay and Dinh Tien Hoang crossing in Hoan Kiem region declared that the ratio of traffic law offenders had declined drastically at this point, especially general violations like without helmets driving and driving cards and going over red signals. Nguyen Huu Tam, the in charge of traffic police team No 5 who is a head of Nguyen Van Cu Street in Long Bien region said public’s sense of traffic rules was much polished, including that there were only a few disputes of traffic law violations on that evening and most of the drivers were not familiar with new regulations.
Nguyen Van Tai, the in charge of traffic police team No 7, said law offenders were badly punished but at the same point in time, police gave out cusps and presented details of the new decree. As per HCM City traffic police, around 2,000 traffic law offenders were strictly punished on the first evening when the decree took in action, around 60 per cent compared with before. There were also some sections regarding children helmets for bikes. According to that, all young bike riders must wear helmets while driving motorbikes.
According to an estimate around 4,000 children died and thousands get seriously injured each year on Viet Nam's roads. A major factor of the collisions was caused by motorbikes. "Much of this suffering could have been prevented had parents restricted their children wear a good helmet when they use a motorcycle", said Jesper Morch, United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) representative in Viet Nam. According to the new law, if a child is not having a helmet, the adult who is taking him or her will be highly penalized VND100, 000-200,000 ($5-10). —VNS. Violating traffic rules is a common practice in Vietnam but now as per officials the new law has bought a drastic change in accidents. The law is of great significance and impact as after its implementation vast change can be observed easily. The law focuses on precautions which help in preventing road accidents.
Issue 2: Forced dispossessions and displacements in China cities
Olympic Games is one of the biggest events held in past years. Preparations for the Olympic Games in China resulted in three key issues for housing: dispossessions of low-income individuals; criminalization homeless nationals; and accelerative action of restoration process. Generally, the Olympic Games were a big and important exacerbating factor in the declension of the housing situations of low income and people living in those areas.
One of the biggest losses of housing is linked to the demolition of the public housing community. While it was not a place for the building structure of any Olympic facility, Olympic Games were supposed as a chance to develop this area allocating its closeness to Olympic venues. A small fraction of the remaining units were fixed aside as ‘affordable housing’, and the major fraction was sold at market price. When calculated, there was a net loss of over 800 public housing units at this place.
According to many local tenants and advocates, the place did not require being lacerate down, but for social imagination issues, it was the most means path to redevelopment. More than 1,000 households forced out without their desire and only a few percent got relocation aid. Moreover, former residents informed that this aid was minimal and did not facilitate them in replacement housing for many of those dislocated. Before the Olympic Games preparations started, the Housing Community had many houses. At the end of Olympic Games, it became the privately dealt with 360 subsidized units dealing with only a few percent located for former income and -level residents.
Olympic experience added housing, evictions, displacement, arrests of homeless individuals, and the fastening of developers’ control over the city’s administration and analyzing processes. Hosting the Olympic Games led to declension in the housing position for many hundreds of low income people, specifically focusing on the communities. Other displacements resulting from restoration and change of state were far-flung. The impact of Olympic Games was too high, thousands of people got homeless and only a little proportion got home assistance, but according to them home assistance was not sufficient. Construction of Olympic venues consumed a huge amount of money and resulted in increasing homelessness in China. Olympic Games was a big event, China earned a lot but it left thousands of people homeless in town. One night, bulldozers came to demolish homes. Many families living in the building woke to the noises of the courtyard wall being planet in the name of the 2008 Olympics. Olympics left thousands of people homeless, few of them got help but they were not satisfied as the aid was not sufficient for them.
Case3: Indonesia seeks seven years for 'Prince of Jihad'
JAKARTA (AFP) - – Indonesian public prosecutor on Thursday searched seven years' jail for an Islamic blogger recorded the "Prince of Jihad" for allegedly assisting suicide acts on two luxury restaurants in Jakarta last year. Mohammed Jibril Abdurahman, publisher of extremist literature and a militant blogger, was caught at his media company Ar-Rahmah few days after the July 17 bombings in which seven people and two suicide bombers killed. Jibril, the son of a revolutionary cleric, has been penalized with hiding information about such acts and disproving documents, and can have charge a minimum 3-year sentence. Prosecutor Totok Bambang mentioned the South Jakarta district court that Jibril had hidden "information about terror crimes and provided facilities to terrorist Noordin (Mohammad) Top."
The bombings ceased four-year abatement in attacks assigned to Malaysian terror leader Noordin, who was defeated by police in September. About 40 of Jibril's assistants including women in burqas chanting "Allah-u Akbar" (God is Greater) after prosecutors ceased addressing the court. A noncompliant Jibril said he would have been glad to be condemned to death. "Even if I'm facing a death sentence, it won't be a big surprise for me. I will never be scared of anything," Jibril told newsmen after his test opening day. His trial will restart next Thursday, when he is anticipated to enter a supplication. The Pakistan-educated guy dropped an e-mail to his brother in the Saudi city of Mecca informing him about a meeting he had had with Noordin before the July acts on the JW Marriott and Ritz-Carlton hotels (Indonesia seeks seven years for Prince of Jihad, 2010).
In that e-mail, prosecutor Bambang wrote, Jibril "discussed about a terror attack which he declared would be higher than the WTC attack," he pointed to the New York World Trade Center, one of Al-Qaeda's targets on September 11, 2001. In a separate test hearing on Thursday at the same court, officials sought a 10-year punishment for former terror convict Rohmat Puji Wibowo, who has been charged of hiding Noordin and other terror suspects a month before the July hotel attacks.
Bambang told Wibowo, published in 2007 after performing his role for three years in the 2004 bomb attack on the Australian embassy located in Jakarta, had connected with an Islamist group led by alleged bomb-maker Bagus Budi Pranato, who died in the same police raid that murdered Noordin. Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono gave ultimatum last week that his country required to remain open eye for terror menaces posed by militants released from jail. The impact would be bigger as people have started thinking evil about Muslims and they are achieving wrong impression and conception about Jihad only because of few black sheep. This issue has of great significance for the world as its result would impact the lives of all Muslim resides in different countries.
