Media Studies Name: Tutor: Course: Date: Acting is among the activities that impact positive and negative behaviors in societies. In other words, acting has an influential role especially to young people. Acting is considered to be a talent that is acquired by few. There are several categories of actors such as; comedians, action actors, and porn star. The action is either recorded in films or performed live in theatres. The words acted in movies are not necessarily written by the actor, most of the time a book is first written and after selling a couple of copies, it is acted. Acting needs a lot of creativity, this includes when one have to cry or laugh just to pass the emotions required in writing. Even though, Hollywood has the best actors and actresses worldwide, every country posses talented young people who inspire people through acting. Acting has therefore, created a range of similarity that links and joins different communities in the world. Movie stars are known to have several functions and roles, especially now that acting is taken to a higher level whereby actors are considered to be amongst the prominent persons in society Culture refers to the pattern that is practiced by individuals over and over again. It is transferred from generation to generations, and it eventually becomes their way of life. According to Bordwell & Thompson (2008), culture is manifested through a people’s language, customs, literature, religion, art and costumes. Through acting, actresses and actors are able to spread different cultural practices to their consumers. This includes mode of dressing, foodstuff, language, and other lifestyles. This way, people are able to adapt the best and abandon the rest. This has also developed mutual understanding, and people of different community are able to appreciate each other as they socialize harmoniously. Most of the knowledgeable experiences are written in books, and the duty of the actors is to convert the writings in to actions. Technology has aided many discovery and development; however, reading novels is slowly forgotten. People are now into movies, this way, people are able to be empowered through movies and enjoying them at the same time. Movie stars are ambassadors of the country they represent because of the culture they spread to other nation. Culture refers to a process of socializing that entails all the rules, assumptions, norms, regulations and mindsets that are common to a group of people. These rules govern and determine how the individual in that group lives and interacts with other people. Acting has played a crucial role in spreading American culture to other countries. For example actors like Jackie Chan have ventured into Hollywood and collaborated with other famous movie stars. This has unified American and Chinese cultures and as a result unifies the two nations. Hollywood is known to be the largest movie production home which is situated in California in United States. Cultural appreciation promotes unity and understanding between people of different cultures. By learning about other people’s cultures, people are able to appreciate themselves and build their self confidence. This proves that the future of America’s cinema and television is great (Branston & Stafford 2010, pp334). As mentioned earlier, movie stars are influential and through this ability, they are able to eliminate discrimination such as, racism. Racism entails the belief that some races are more superior to others in society. From as early as the colonial era, racism in the United States of America has been a major issue. Native Americans, African Americans, Asian Americans, American Jews, Mexican Americans, Irish Americans and some other migrant groups and their off springs were all considered as the minority groups. Racism can take many forms. However, no one is born a racist. This develops from the environment from which our children grow into. This ranges from the establishment of cooperative management structures and consciousness of servitude by the society to the abolition of all repression ideas and practices. Since it is the people’s needs that influence all the chances of power emergence, similarly all decision making should rely on the majority ideas of surviving and fulfilling their needs. At no chance should the idea that a group of minority ideas for majority can steer forward the community at any future let alone a better future. According to Cook (2007, pp200), the only way out is for the majority to access their needs then discover the consciousness of servitude as they do their day to day tasks to accomplish the needs together America’s economy is recorded as one of the strongest and fast-growing economy in the world. In the last two decades, the economy has recorded a fall in unemployment and economic growth. With the economy engaging in vigorous policy and structural reforms, the economy has turned out to be resilient, flexible and well integrated with worldwide markets. California contribute the largest part of America’s economy, this is because of the money earned through acting and activities related to this form of art. This refers to improvements through social and economic spheres of both an individual and society. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who is currently the governor of California, has been on the frontline line in acting international movies such as predator, universal soldier and among others. Acting is now appreciated and people from all corners of the world, this has enabled America distribute their movies globally, and therefore, fetching a lot of income. In the recent years, the economy has been able to overcome both internal and external milestones such as a housing boom, major drought and the economic and financial crisis that had hardly hit the western community. The country is endowed with resources and with a diverse primary sector based economy (Cook 2007, pp10). Movie stars are known to posses a similar identity, and that is beauty. Many people have several definitions of beauty. Some will say that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Some say that beauty is about how glamorous a person is in terms of how they appear. For example, some will say a beautiful person is that who have well set white teeth; others say those who have their facial features set in a certain manner. With all these assumptions of what beauty is to different people, some have different opinions. A good example is of Jennifer Lopez. She fits in all categories, which are; action, love, comedy and drama movie. Apart from this she is also a superstar in music and porn. My definition of beauty is not anywhere next to physical beauty; it is how a person makes others feel and how they treat them. A beautiful person is that person who glows inside and outside; that person who have a compliment for everyone. That person who makes one look beautiful, a person who tells people when they have done something wrong but in a loving way that he/she will refrain from this wrongdoing willingly. Moreover, these stars have a duty to influence society positively. Through the interaction of people from various countries, for instance, collaborating in a movie, there has been unification of different communities, and as a result, has aided globalization. Globalization is the interaction between different countries sharing what they have, improving it and making every nation a better place for everyone. It enhances knowledge sharing in different academic fields. Branston & Stafford (2010, pp285) claims that globalization has improved many fields for example, medical unit. Unity and cooperation among representatives of different countries has made them invent medicine to some of the incurable diseases for example, tuber closes. Number of deaths has been reduced, and every medicine or theory discovered is spread all over the world through the web which connects everyone. Likewise after every outbreak of any disease every country is alerted in order to make use of vaccinations. In terms of economics, people are able to carry out business activities when they are wide apart. Through globalization, the world has come together to ensure that natural resources are well protected in order to secure the future. For example taking care of trees whereby there are trees planting day and there is a rule to avoid deforestation whereby when one cut down one tree he/she plants two. The government has also preserved some animals, and there are rules set aside not to abuse animals. Due to globalization criminal rates have reduced since security agencies from different countries have collaborated to arrest any criminal trying to seek refuge in a different country after committing a crime in his/her homeland. Education has also been able to spread even to the farthest part of the world. Due to globalization educational facilities have been easily accessed from the developed nations without any hindrance. One is able to move from one country to another seeking for knowledge. As mentioned earlier, movie stars are associated with physical beauty; this has made it possible to attract people to purchase products through their influence. Over the past few years, designers have been hiring movie stars in advertising their new fashions. Fashion has grown intensively. Although it keeps repeating itself, it comes with more quality which adds its, value this is achieved by oneness among nation whereby ideas are borrowed from different ethnic groups. (Branston & Stafford 2010, pp309). Stories in movies empower society with civilization so as to end inequality such as; gender, race and disability. This way, women have understood their position in society, and applied their knowledge in economic, political and social growth. That is an equal division of resources, equal political positions also equal and fair respect from the society. Women have the higher population than men this making them realizes that they play the biggest role in the society yet they are considered irresponsible. They have moved on and claimed seats in the House of Representatives. This in turn has promoted equality between the two sexes and created self confidence in women. Sandra bullock is a top actress in Hollywood who has won several awards in her acting career. She represents the group of women who never gives up until they achieve what they want. She started acting at a very tender age, and has a couple of movies such as; 28 days, the blind side, infamous, crash, miss congeniality, practical magic, the net and among others. She acts comedy, action movies, love movies, horror and other categories of movie types. She has also appeared in visual music advertisement, and severally in magazines (Willis 2004, pp441). According to the philosophy of multiple intelligence, acting is important as it facilitates growth, learning and confidence. Individuals are capable of performing multiple roles when motivated and given opportunities. Programs that focus on creativity and performance ability have gained popularity in schools in both formal and informal settings. Movie producers have been displaying the technology that has not yet been discovered, and as a result, enhances creativity to the viewers. Even though, it attracts viewers, it also develops deeper thinking of young minds and helps them understand that everything is possible. Technology has also improved the lifestyle of the entire globe. With the help, of computers and satellite communication between different nations has improved advancing many business ventures. This communication is brought by the improving technology which has reduced the cost of transport hence improving the economy (Bordwell & Thompson 2008, pp 2). Conclusion Fortunately, the world has become a better place due to the influence impacted by actresses and actors in people’s lives. Acting is a form of entertainment that creates job opportunity and the same time, empowers society. References Bordwell, D & Thompson, K 2008, Film art, 8th ed.
