Extract of sample "Fundamentals of Communication"

Communication across Cultures It is an important point of communication that exists amongst many cultures of the world. This is the reason why it is given necessary attention because people know already that communication would be the most significant aspect that will come under discussion. There is reason available to discuss and analyze this factor. This is because communication makes many things possible. The friendship and the close relationships that exist amongst people on a one to one level are all because of communication. If this communication does not exist, there will be serious problems on the lowest level. Therefore it is necessary that the people remain in touch with each other and look forward to communicating through both verbal and nonverbal forms of communication. Communication amongst cultures is being seen as a positive aspect because it creates a sense of harmony and camaraderie which is not witnessed anywhere else. Fundamentally speaking, communication across cultures has become a norm because it is the need of the hour. If the communication processes are not carried out in a normal and day to day manner, there are bound to be serious problems that will come about for the people. The roles within communication might change but what is important here is the manner under which the parties that communicate remain single within their focus. The emphasis should be on tying up different cultures and their cultural facets rather than on something totally different. This is one of the reasons why communication is given that much importance by the people because it creates a sense of understanding and empathy amongst the people. They start getting in the feet of others before they can decide what kind of communication is being seen fed on to them. They also think of the other ways and means through which communication will be taken as a savior for them in the long range scheme of things (Zerfass, 2011). These are some of the most significant aspects that one comes across when the talk goes out loud regarding the communication roles which are bringing success for the different cultures or in the flip side, bringing a sense of fear for the cultures through shortcomings and mistakes which are being propagated. Man is known to be a social animal and because of this reason, he has to communicate with the people around him. Now it does not matter if the people around him are ranging from different regions of the world and share a number of cultures within their backgrounds. What must matter here is the fact that the people should communicate with each other across the board, and get in touch with each other’s needs and requirements through dialogue. The varied forms of communication are very essential that must be discussed through words, nonverbal gestures, signs or just about anything which puts them in close connection of one another. The need is to remain focused towards the end goal which is to communicate with the people around the world, and not just be boxed in on a single culture for that matter. One must not let go off the requirement of growing together because this world is a collective pool of people hailing from different cultures and it would only be a good point to work one’s way through these challenges that keep on coming from time to time. Communication affects research ideas in the fact that this research is dependent on the ways and means through which people get in touch with one another and find out the basic value of discourse. This is essential to know because if the people do not believe in sharing their ideas, there would be less of communication mechanisms coming into the equation and hence the discourse and dialogue would cease to exist. Some of the most important objectives behind communication include the fact that people should get in touch with one another, and interact. If they do not interact, the sharing of ideas comes down considerably. What is even more significant is the manner under which their success could be guaranteed through a proper analysis of activities and tasks, which is indeed the need of the time. These activities and tasks are inherently focused on the manner of communication that exists amongst the people and which has been researched time and again by the researchers and the people who have believed in the premise of support for the different cultures. Without a doubt, this is one of the most talked about aspects of communication amongst different cultures and it will continue to be the case in the coming times as well. What is required however is a collective approach to set things right and to bring harmony amongst the ranks so that people can feel good about what they do and what they get into with one another through communication. Human beings communicate with one another because they have to. It is not possible that they can live without communicating. This has been proven with research that the amount of communicating increases with one’s close association with the individuals around him. This is the reason why there is more emphasis on aligning positive notes between people from different cultural backgrounds. This is the basis of bringing in the much needed harmony which shall mean a great amount of success in the long range scheme of things. When human beings communicate on a one to one level, they often find out where they are going wrong and what kind of hindrances are plaguing their respective domains. They find out what else they need to do in order to move ahead further with the communication mechanisms that are already in place and also discern the basis of success they can achieve once their communication becomes better and more refined. However, when the discussion centers on the premise of communication amongst different individuals who hail from a variety of cultural backgrounds, it means that there is more adaptability which is required, and which shall also limit the amount of negativity that exists amongst people at large. Such understandings in essence try to find a common ground from where success is extracted and which essentially means a lot of good things for the people as far as their communication mechanisms and principles are concerned (Hsieh, 2011). They want to know how they can be friends with one another, and what kind of approaches do they have to make in order to remain one step ahead of the times that they are currently living in. In essence, communication sounds better if it is done in a comprehensive manner. If there are any shortcomings within communication, these must be addressed and taken care of as soon as possible so that the problems do not disturb the process of communication amongst people coming from different cultural backgrounds and settings. The need of the hour is to make sure that the people remain strong with their communication mechanisms and give their best no matter how tough it gets or how difficult the entire process of communication turns out to be at the end of the day (Campbell, Martin & Bettina, 2011). There must be a strong will and determination to turn the tide in the opposite direction so that the end results are based on an approach to bring laurels for the communication processes that exist amongst people. The role of the opinion leaders amongst such aspects is an important one. They form the exact links that are required for communication and then go about dealing with the negativities which crop up every now and then. If these opinion leaders tell the people how to deal with the communication errors and shortcomings, they are indeed doing their jobs properly. They must tell all and sundry where they are going wrong and what corrective measures could be taken to make sure that success does come in within the communication processes that exist amongst people from different cultures all around the world. When due attention is given to different cultures of the world, the communication mechanisms also come out easily. This means that the people do not have to be wary of the fact that they will have to converse with the people around the world in their language. Rather what they should worry about is the ideology that their energies would be dedicated in the right direction and that success can only be guaranteed if communication is done properly. It does not really mean for communication to be properly done that the language is the same. Even though interpreters and sign language can be made use of, the bottom line remains in the fact that people are growing and developing whilst communicating with each other in more ways than one. All said and done, the communication measures are always seen as an area where strengths lie between the people from different cultures of the world. It is a good aspect that has been much discussed and analyzed in the past and will continue to be the case in the coming times as well. References Campbell, R., Martin, C. & Bettina, F., 2011.
