This really affects their social life and they always feel secluded and unwanted in society. Their education suffers and they are not in a position to continue to higher standards and finding employment. This limits them to earn a good living (Tilak 2007). Their families in later years also suffer as they have not enough finances to support them and hence a cycle of poverty is created. To solve this problem of child poverty, solutions should be initiated at the grass root levels to ensure that the poor children of today do not end up to be the poor adults of tomorrow (McKay 2004).

In many nations, child poverty has been declared a national disaster and many nations have come up with organizations and lobby groups to deal with the problem of child poverty. According to many people, the responsibility of a child is entitled to the parents however this should not be the case; it is a responsibility of each state to take care of the children in their nation. Many types of the council have been formed to cater to the needs of the children in many states. These councils include the European Union, European Commission, Social Protection and Social Inclusion, Social Protection Committee and many more.

Child poverty is measured according to the income of the family (Louis 2008). Another way that could be used to measure child poverty includes comparing the level of income with the basic necessities required for survival. Measurement of child poverty at a national level has been the work of the European Union in the state. Many governments in the world have objectives to combat and eliminate child poverty. There are various ways and strategies that are being initiated and being put in place by the many governments.

For examples, many states are setting aside extra money for expenditure by the family.
