Our relationship with others is marked by reminiscences of our experiences. In this reflection, we can tell how the society is cruel particularly to the minorities that she deemed as a social evil. At this young stage of life Moody was exposed to racial segregation and unfair treatment of the blacks (Moody 4). The blacks were constantly arrested in the past; this case is still eminent nowadays lots of black people are in holding since they are considered violent (Moody 7). Minimal considerations have been made to handle this challenge. Theologically the blacks are viewed to be gang men yet the regime has not made efforts to prove why this case is so. The government only aims at removing them from the streets. It is common knowledge that most of the black people grow in a hostile environment. Securing favorable opportunities given these circumstances is a pressing issue hence many indulge in criminal activities. Moody was concerned with the concept of race. In her memoir, she explains of her two uncles who appeared white. The shift brought many challenges into her life. Moving to new places accrues many challenges particularly discrimination. The US is composed of various cultures and facts have it there is some level of hostility between these cultures. Eventually, violence breaks which result in loss of life and fundamentally opportunities are reduced. For instance the assassination of Martin Luther, who had a great vision for America, crippled his peace vision that resulted in chaos. Redemption for America was vital since it was a home and will forever be to this diverse people. While in high school her interests in politics were awakened, she tells the story of a young boy who was brutally murdered. In the memoir, her mother explains that the boy was killed by an evil spirit. The evil spirit in this context is used to refer to the issue of racial discrimination; it is evidently clear that the boy was killed because of his color. Though she did not understand the concept clearly later in college, she got a clear picture. For instance, she explains of an encounter at Jackson, Mississippi where she and Rose her friend decide to go in whites-only section in a bus depot. The whites were agitated by this, and they threatened to inflict violence on them. This significantly proves that people would go to dire links to protect what they view as theirs. Also (Moody 35) explains the drift between the races; she noted the separation when it came to opportunities. This feature is also in play currently whereby in some institutions the blacks are viewed to be destructive and hence their enrollment is subsequently subdued. While in college she joined the NAACP, Moody played a crucial sensitization role in the movement for instance in chapter 26 of the memoir we see indulging in politics. Where she seeks to establish a leadership structure aimed based upon redeeming the people from the evil spirit. Anne establishes that the people were aware of the social injustices. Deficiency is an issue that plays a great role while playing people into classes in the society. Furthermore, it is crucial to note that the discriminatory laws effects are still in play currently, for instance, it is extremely difficult for a black individual to own property in places categorized by whites. To conclude different cultures globally behave differently and hence it should be a collective responsibility of people to honor this concept. Currently, the issue of discrimination is psychological times have changed. In the past, there used to be myths that will support the development of knowledge they have been termed to be wrong. All people are equal though it is crucial to note that this physiological concept can be applied effectively to place judgment. For instance in the cases of terrorism Arabs and Muslims have been watched vigilantly to distinguish the culprits though this should not be taken to mean that all Arabs and Muslims are terrorists.
