 ETHICAL BEHAVIOR AND ETHICAL PERSPECTIVE Ethical making decisions is very important and can affect the evaluation phase that it belongs to. Some of the ethical decision that are made keep ethical theories to the background and hence are used in the decision making procedure of everyday life. Others do ignore the theories when they are making their decisions and only really on the theoretical approach that is cognitive moral development. Some studies have been on the fore front of examining the link between the theories and the way that most people make their decisions. These reasons are justified to belong to the criteria that is derived from the various stages in moral reasoning (Making Ethical Progress without Ethical Theories, 2015). Teleological theory Any ethics that has an action that is solely determined by its end results or the consequences that are obtained in the end. This approach does look at the difference that is there between the good and the bad. Acts are considered to be good when they tend to have a positive effect and also in promoting human welfare. This approach is thus referred to ass Teleological theory. Therefore, when one considers analyzing their ethical behavior, they ought to consider this theory. Teleological moral theories are accurately linked to the aspect of Hedonism. This aspect is able to connect the consequences that human behavior has to the foundation that is based on good and bad, right and wrong. The hallmark of most teleological theories is that they are always concentrated on identifying behavior based on the aspect of pleasure and pain. Once one accept hedonism they are always challenged with philosophical dilemmas. When one makes a decision they consider of the end effects that is this theory stipulates. There are other situations that actions are necessary however despite that notion it is important that one considers the end effect of both sides. Teleological theory ought to teach people on the way that they practice their life. There are certain instances where ethical behavior is not necessarily considered but using the aspect on hedonism the probability of having the action outcomes in mind is high. The honesty of the matter is that the question that is always raised of whether human beings are selfish or just altruistic can be investigated easily based in the empirical observations. When we are able to observe the human behavior objectively over a long period in history it is quite difficult to disregard the fact that humans on most instances pursue personal pleasure. Most of the times they consider values that favor themselves only without outing into consideration the aspect of others. However at other rare but possible occurrences that human beings also sacrifice their own needs for others. They even have to endure pain for the sake of others (Web.campbell.edu, 2015). Moreover, humans are more concentrated in offering these kind of moral behavior to their families rather than strangers that they have just met. Therefore on considering the Teleological theory it is quite evident that human beings put too much consideration on the outcome of the actions that they take rather than how such behavior will have an impact on their moral behavior. Divine Command Theory The divine command theory focuses on the moral goodness that one’s action is based on the aspect of the religious understanding. Hence the act of a human being killing another human behavior is quite wrong since it is contained in the commandments. To effectively explain this is that the rightness or wrongness of an act is considered and based on the aspect on the truthful pronouncement of an outside power that has control of events. Divine command theorist argue that the same God created moral rules. Sometimes divine command does depend on the teleological considerations. For example, many of the religious groups use the omniscient, omnipotent, and goodness that God has as a way of rewarding compliance and also noncompliance. God does reward that behavior of believers and also punishes those that are not believers (Broad, 2012). The consideration of human behaviors practices their life based on this theory checks on the aspect they consider the religious guide that exists. They believe in what is written and not what is unknown. The major belief of how human beings practice their daily lives is based on how much strictness they are able to follow the laws that are written. Ethical behaviors are sometimes considered to be negative when the outcome does not in any way follow the laws that are stipulated by God. Many people approach morality in the standpoint of the divine command theory. The only debate that can arise in these aspect is the actual meaning that is obtained from all this and also the authority that it sanctions. Therefore the basic meaning is that religion ought to be based according to the morality it bases on. Most of the times this theory focuses in the main idea of morality to considering how different people have different views on the human ethical behaviors. The consideration of the ethical behaviors goes along way unlike the Teleological theory this theory bases its facts not on the action effects but rather on what is evident and ought to be followed. The logical views is that one can only have the main view of the theory when they behave to be morally upright. This theory has its logics based on the past events and how the actions done by the past human beings turned out (James, 2015). Hence the main way that people can participate in this theory is if they are able to follow the strict rules that are put in front of them. Theological theory considers that one understands such rules and hence are able to follow them to the latter. The more one understands and follows the rules that are placed ahead of them the more likely they turn up to be morally upright (Web.campbell.edu, 2015). To explain further the basis that one to consider when they are considering if they are more upright in the way that they practice their ethical behavior. Then it is a good strategy to focus on Meta ethics. This types of ethics are bound to consider the moral psychology, moral reality, and also the aspect of moral reason (Broad, 2012). There is Moral relativism as a way to consider the moral statement that are considered to be important. Moral statements can be true or false. However the truth is that moral statement does depend on the moral tradition of the person that is uttering such words. Therefore, the more upright a person is in the consideration of their moral human behavior the more truthful they are bound to become. All the moral statements that are made in a tradition they are true if only they are able to correspond to such traditions (Reitter, & Bernstein, 2014). Moral relativists do reduce the aspect of morality to the culture that one lives in, hence it is easier to understand the moral aspects one just needs to understand the culture that one is in. Moral relativists argue that one does not need to prove that all cultures do disagree with the subject concerning morality, because many people would find it very convenient to agree on certain things. For example, everyone has an interest that our life and also property is always protected. Hence every culture agrees that stealing and also killing is wrong. The main factor about this theory in explaining the notion on ethical behavior is that; some cultures indeed experience moral progress. For example, captivity was on one occasion considered to be moral in The US, but it is now considered to be wrong. Then it is likely for an individual to gain more moral upright behavior when they are able to realize that the previous practice was wrong (Making Ethical Progress without Ethical Theories, 2015). Another factor is that relativism does fail to account for the rational moral argument that is experienced by most people. They fail to argue about what is true about morality, they tend to be unclear about the main aspects that should be considered when having the rite morals. They main argument is that people are often wrong about most issues (Broad, 2012) To conclude it is more evident that moral behavior in individuals does depend much more on the way that one considers the above theories. The main lives of people are guided by what on most times its considered to be upright. The different theories all try to explain the main aspects that humans beings have been considering when they want to become morally upright. Therefore, the more a person considers the theories and how they affect their daily lives the more they are more likely to become more endowed in the theories. The breaches of ethical behavior, however, happen on most occasion this is followed by the little understanding of the various concepts that are contained in the theories.
