Therefore, it is allowed to produce and distribute fakes even though it presents profit losses to the foreign companies. The government tolerates the piracy as long as it brings more value or enhances the original software (Hays, 2008). Other arguments defend software pirating by claiming that more software use encourages more hardware purchasing. Furthermore, counterfeits quality has improved so much that it is impossible to differentiate between the original software (Hays, 2008). Some other opinions based on the belief in the freedom of information.

They argue that it is ethical to make a copy of a software to access the information contained in it. They also bring the idea that reproducing and distributing the software is a way of fair usage within the laws of copyright (Valgas, 2011). There is another argument that supports the opinion that software piracy is beneficial. It holds the claim that the piracy has long-term benefits that highly outweighs the short-term disadvantages (Edwards, 2012). It further supports the claim by explaining that making copies of the software ensures its preservation for future use and can be used to show the history of technology in the future.

The idea of piracy preserving the software presents an interesting point regarding the ethical view of piracy. The reason behind it being; the lifespan of the software is quite short compared to other materials like books and other arts. Therefore, the presentation of digital work is of importance for both its producers and the nations historical reference. Some software pirates claim that piracy is a victimless crime, that it does not involve hurting anyone. Therefore, they believe that, considering the high prices of software, companies do not get hurt by the piracy of their products.
