They have better economies to take care of the needs of refugees such as security, food, shelter, water, health care, and other needs (Bamgbose, 2008)• Developed countries have better infrastructure and refugee screening measures that would sieve out refugees who are not genuine (Lim, 2013; Wade, 2011). • Developed countries have an ethical obligation to help the less fortunate persons in developing countries (Davies, 2008)• Reducing mortality rates among the victims (Elie, 2010)• They have fledged, proven refugee policies and internal institutions (Elie, 2010)Disadvantages However, refugees’ entering developed countries could cause; • Overcrowding and poor sanitation (Elie, 2010)• Heightened insecurity due to idleness (Davies, 2008)• Developed countries taking in refugees are implementing short-term measures to the problem of refugees in the world as many people will develop a culture of dependence (Davies, 2008; Elie, 2010)• Taking in more refugees would justify more hostilities because perpetrators would be buoyed by the fact that victims will eventually leave (Davies, 2008)• In light of this, developed countries should alleviate the problem by taking in more refugees because they are better placed to provide the basic needs whenever necessary.
• Preventive measures such as peaceful conflict resolution mechanisms in unstable countries is important • Facilitating stronger governance institutions, mediation and arbitration processes are equally important.
