Analysis of a survey conducted on a website: Introduction This paper is an analysis of a survey which was based on current matters. The matters include health, exercise, nature trails, news, online activities, social media and environment. A questioner was uploaded on a website, individuals were required to answer the questions; with confidentiality maintained. 261 participants were involved in responding to the questions. Findings People aged 18-24 years are frequent website/internet users This is evident from the data collected after the survey. Young adults of the age group 18 to 24 were very active in answering the survey questions. According to the 295 total responses; ages 18- 24 formed the majority being 208 in total. Older adults of the age group 25 to 34 followed with being 52 in total. Individuals aged 35 to 50 years amounted to 10. People aged 51 to 64 years were 18 in number; and lastly 65 and or older individuals’ number was 7. Most people view exercise as a vital lifestyle Majority of the individuals who participated in the survey viewed exercise as an important aspect of health maintenance. 3% of individuals viewed exercise as not essential, 97% of the participants viewed exercise as important. Most individuals from the survey live an active lifestyle, by spending a lot of time outdoors. 5 to 6 hours is the average time spent outdoors by the majority participants Most people who participated in the survey, spend 5-6 hours when is weather is favorable. 31% of the participants spend 5-6 hours outdoor in a good weather. 23% spend more than 8 hours outdoors; contrary to the 15% that spend 0-2 hours outdoor. Insecurity, boring state, injuries and other vices are related to trails According to the data on the survey as to why people do not like trails; time factor was the most eminent factor; with 118 in number. The majority participants do not use trails because they do not have enough time. Trails are not convenient for the 99 participants, 85 individuals avoid trails because their friends are not interested in trailing. 48 people view trails as scary, 39 people state that rails limits their exercise routine, and 33 participants say that trails are boring. Although these factors are associated with trails; individuals were asked why they loved trails and on average analysis; they stated trails are serene, nature, and airy. Trails were also detested due to dangerous outcomes that are prone. Examples of these outcomes include; snakes, injuries, spiders, and poison ivy. 31% of individuals often walk on nature trails, 56% walk on nature trails a few times, and 13% never walk on nature trails. Rail trails awareness must be done Most participants have no idea on what a rail trail is. This is evident from the data collected; 61 people have ever heard of rail trails while 149 of them have never heard of rail trails. 91 people from the survey have ever used a rail trail, while 118 people from the survey have never used a rail trail. In relation to these two questions concerning rail trails; if it were built around the area of the survey participants; exercise would be the main activity. If a rail trail was built in their areas; the activities are broken down into the following. Walking 188, exploration 174, biking 151, running 150, shortcut 126, rollerblading 39, and skateboarding 25. According to the question enquiring if the participants have ever heard of rails to trails conservancy, 16% response was yes while 84% response was no. Environment is an important issue for most individuals According to the data collected, the topic of environment proved to be an issue of essence,. 88% of the participants agreed that environment is an important matter. 12% disagreed on environment being an important factor in the lives of human beings. Among the various environmental issues, the following is the overall data findings. Climate change 39%, clean water 21%, clan air 16%, more green space 16%, and others 7%. Most individuals live on urban and suburban areas The data from the results shown that 48% of the surveyed people live in urban areas, 48% live in suburban area, 4% live in rural areas. Social media sites act as a source of media information On a daily basis: according to social media sites, 74% of individuals prefer facebook, 42% twitter, 33% instagram, 11% tunblr, 10% pinterst. This shows that most individual prefer to be online networking; with this generation being a technological generation. The major source of news for most individuals is online news sites, 47% being the majority response. Another major respondent of news news is social media being 30%, television 12%, radio 4%, friends 4%, and print 3%. Analysis of results Young people (18-24) are online on a regular basis. This age group is familiar with the advanced technology; for instance face book, twitter. They also have a lot of free time to connect and socialize in the social sites as well as other websites. This is seen from the chart below. Individuals aged 25-34 are less four times as the total number of the young adults. 25-34 year olds are very busy working and occupied with their lives; they visit websites but not on a regular basis as compared to young people. The aged have less interest with online services. Is exercise a vital lifestyle? With the emergence of health concepts; currently individuals deem the act of exercise as a vital life component. This has been triggered by the current research proving that exercise suppresses lifestyle diseases. Examples include; high blood pressure, obesity, diabetes, and even cancer. An active lifestyle has been an essential component in the lives of the contemporary individual. This is seen from the data enquiring on outdoor activities; examples are walking the dog, exercising, and work/ recreation.Data collected from this fact is as shown below: Why spend time outdoors? In good weather, most individual prefer the out doors due to health reasons. They take this opportunity to relax, exercise and socialize; for example hiking, playing basketball, walking dogs, and jogging. People love being outdoors when the weather is as per their liking. In regard to outdoor activities, nature trails are enticing. This is due to the love of nature, fresh air, relaxation, and soul searching. Although individuals have a love for nature, there are certain aspects make them fear nature. This includes; insects, snakes, monotonous, unsafe, poisonous plants, and one can get injured very easily. Hours spent outdoors are as shown by the chart below: Why do people not use trails? According to the data obtained in regard to avoiding trails, the following reasons displayed on the chart explain: What are rail trails? According to the survey, most individuals have neither heard nor used rail trails. Given the chance, they would use the rail trails for various activities. The data concerned with the various activities of the rail trail use is shown below: Environment is a matter of essence According to the data obtained, environment is a vey important matter to most individuals. Majority of the participants care and respond in all ways on matter concerning the environment. One of the talked about topic globally is the environment. This is due to the global warming effect brought by industrialization. The issues affecting the environment were also asked with the one being the most pressing; which is climatically changes as the majority in response. Environment holds all the life forces together; proving to be the mother of life. Clean air, water, and land entail the aspect of environment. This is shown from the charts below: Social media is on the rampage Most of the participants use social media sites daily and frequently. They use these sites in retrieving the latest celebrity, political, as well as expert news. The widely used site happens to be face book, followed by twitter. This data shows that currently individuals prefer networking and receiving news via social sites. Most clients on the social media sites are females. Below is a chart showing social sites consumer interactions: Online systems have proved to be the main news source. This is shown from the chart below: Most people love to live in developed areas Majority of the surveyed individuals live in urban and suburban areas. Reasons of their residence include; working, education and access to facilities. This data is shown by the chart below: Conclusion People aged 18-24 have zeal of knowledge; and this is evident from their website visitation. They also love participating in online activities; including entertainment, education, surveys, and socializing. Most individuals think that exercise is essential as part of a healthy lifestyle. This implies that most individuals in the survey are conscious of their health. Individuals love to spend a lot of hours outdoor so as to relax, work out and enjoy nature. Due to technology, cars, and industrialization; the populace do not like using trails. This is because of social reasons, trails being viewed as boring, and security reasons. Although most individuals do not have any clue concerning rail trails, they would like to use the rail trails for excursions and exercise activities (Klososky, 161). People may have a dislike of nature trails; but the environment is a matter of interest to most people. With the world developing, most individuals prefer to live in technology advancing areas. Most people who prefer to live in such urban and suburban areas are moistly the young adults and people who work in cities. Most individual who underwent the survey get the latest news reports from media sites. This action shows that the media is very powerful, and more efforts must be done so as to spread any latest news; with social media sites being of frequent use.
