Philips points out the responsibilities of each and every citizen in ensuring that the wishes of Jefferson are ascertained and the constitution becoming not just a document but a tool to foster democracy and revolution in America for all citizens (Phillips 270).The ideas and suggestions provided by Philips which are but a collection of suggestions from people all over America seem a little overboard and unrealistic but can be achieved if determination leads people. It is not easy to change the mindset of people about the constitution being a revolutionary document that should be based on current happenings but the last chapters provide ways to do that (Phillips 313).

ConclusionThis book is truly an eye-opener of how shallowly the citizens consider the constitution. Every reader should read this book in order to get a grasp of how to revolutionize the constitution-making it alive in day to day activities, events, and happenings and it will stop being just a document but a source of democracy and revolutionary spirit according to Jefferson’s beliefs.
