Extract of sample "Reading Journal Entry on Marrying Absurd by Joan Didion"

The author goes on to say that Las Vegas has no real connection with the REAL WORLD. Marriage is an institution and the two people who get married exchange vows, they make promises which they keep until the very end but this short story is rather strange and also goes to show how the world has changed and the values have also completely changed with the ever-changing world. The author seems rather dismayed by the fact that marriage has become a joke in Las Vegas and this is not only restricted to Las Vegas but also in many other cities in the world.

The seriousness of marriage has been long forgotten by the people and this is decaying our society. There is sarcasm in the short story and the author also aims to bring about a positive change in the society by making the readers understand the importance of marriage and the responsibilities that come with it.
