Most religious organizations have based their foundation on money and political power. This affects the views of the public regarding the church. This behavior is a trend in most churches and has been seen to be the root of most challenges faced by churches in the modern era. Other challenges include differences among church leaders and the increasing level of hypocrisy in modern churches.

There is a shared religious opinion internationally for both the unaffiliated and affiliated. It is believed that there is a spiritual being and that religion brings people together and helps in overcoming various challenges in life. The only difference is that the spiritual but not the religious do not understand whether the decline in the religious influence on society in the modern era is a bad or good thing.
