Jesus

... June 5, The Parables of Jesus: An Analysis Scholars and theologians have closely examined the manner by which Jesus used parables to teach, relay an important lesson, or to vividly illustrate a message to the people of His time. From the readings of the gospel according to Luke, there are three famous parables which Jesus presented and whose meaning in terms of lessons learned; as well as spiritual significance, would be explained in the current discourse. These parables are as follows: the sower and the seed; the Good Samaritan; and the lost sheep, the lost coin, as well as the lost son. The Sower and The Seed: Luke 8: 4-15 The parable of the Sower and the Seed was taught by Jesus and was likewise clearly explained in the Gospel...

Jesus

... of the of the Concerned 22 May 2009 Jesus Jesus was definitely a luminary and an exceptional personality, not only in his own times, but the relevance and importance that his message commands for the times to come. However, a concerted effort was made by the vested interests to bifurcate the legacy of Jesus' message from His undeniable Jewish identity and ancestry. It became imperative for the Church, for some reasons to establish that that Jews happened to be a narrow, selfish, opportunist and xenophobic lot, and their social and spiritual credentials were and are purely earthy as compared to the celestial personality of Jesus and His universal message. Paul certainly made a concerted effort to distance the persona of Jesus...

Figure from American History Ronald Reagan

... Figure from American History: Ronald Reagan In my opinion, America is what it is today courtesy of the Republicans. Given a choice to speak to a figure from American history, I would go for the 40th president of America Ronald Reagan. The importance of the role that he played in bringing the cold war to an end cannot be overemphasized. Suppose he was to be today’s American president, I feel his policies would be the most reliable in resolving the problems being faced by the world today such as; global warming, nuclear proliferation, terrorism, waning world economy and the accompanying poverty and its implications on the future security of America. Security is key to stability of the American economy. In bringing the cold war to an end...

Historical figure-prove with evidence that Jesus actually excited

...Evidence for the Historical Jesus Table of Contents Evidence for the Historical Jesus 3 References 7 Evidence for the HistoricalJesus There is a proliferation of evidence for the historical Jesus, both within and outside the Bible. For instance, in the Bible, Ehrman (2012) points to the historical Paul, who in turn attests to knowing the brother of Jesus, James, and to knowing Jesus’ disciple Peter. This personal knowledge by Paul of these two figures is important. According to Ehrman, James the brother would be in the know if Jesus actually existed or not. The fact that Paul went on with his evangelizing work in the name of Jesus, having had that intimate access to James, meant that Jesus did exist. In the simplest terms...

The Discourses of Psychology and History

Psychology as a field of discourse relies heavily on empirical evidence; being a social science, this empirical evidence is still subject to much subjective analysis. This is not to say that there is no room in chemistry for any sort of subjective analysis, but there is not nearly as much leeway as there would be in social science like psychology. This is the reason why there is such a contrasting difference in the way that theories are phrased in hard sciences and social sciences.

Concerning written assignments in psychology courses, there is a definite, approved approach that must be followed. Generally speaking, psychology paper assignments are not supposed to contain quotations from other papers; the findings of ano...

Cultural History Versus Political History: The Varying Methods of the Two Fathers of History

Even though they have these similarities and have both been bestowed with the same title, these two historians drastically differed in their approaches.

Herodotus had another title bestowed upon him; he was also called the “Father of Lies.” Much of what is known of him has been gathered from his own writings as few other sources are available from his actual life. It should also be noted that the veracity of this information is in question as Herodotus was known to invent much in his own work, and it was sometimes the practice in Ancient Greece to attribute events from the life of one person to another; for instance, it has been questioned if the accounts of Herodotus’ exile are only due to the fact th...

A Short History of Japanese Film Industry

The response generated from other regions is good enough yet questionable. What do these Asian productions have that attracted the international scene? What does the Korean wave really mean? Furthermore, were their productions in the recent years created in the nature that the other regions would appreciate, diverting from the contemporary film style they used to execute locally so that it would sell in the global market?

The transition from traditional to contemporary entertainment in Japan came a few years before the advent of the 20th century with the production of the first Japanese films, Bake Jizo1 and Shinin No Sosei2, both said produced in 1898. The next year, a short production entitled Geisha no Teodora was cr...

The History of Halloween Festival

Halloween is a festival that takes its origin in the ancient Celtic festival known as Samhain (Rogers 11-21). Samhain is an Irish word and means the end of summer. It is a celebration of the end of the harvest season in Gaelic culture (Ronald). Additionally, it is also regarded as the "Celtic New Year" (Kevin 190–232). Conventionally, this was the time when the ancient Celtic pagans to take stock of goods and slaughter livestock for winter stores. This is a festival linked with many superstitions. They thought t...

Art History: Catalan Chapel and Classical Greek and Republican Roman Sculpture

Characteristic of a fresco, the piece is made with secco placed on plaster and wood. Originally part of the church structure, the entire fresco was removed and went through several sales before being acquired by the Boston museum. Part of its ability to astound is its massive size. It measures approximately 21 feet at its tallest point and more than 12 feet across. Because it was originally intended to decorate the interior of a small circular area of the church, it is not flat either, but rather has a concave presentation forcing the museum to dedicate approximately 9 feet of space in depth to accommodate it. As a result of its origins and intent, as well as age and travels, the piece has sustained heavy damage, particularly alon...

Narrative Voice, Characterization, and Use of Settings in Catcher in the Rye and a Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian

The same is true of any writer. One is trying to get into a unique writing style, often without deliberate inclinations-- the style emerges of its own, -- but sometimes, the narrative voice as a writing technique is consciously employed by the writer. To start with, it is necessary for the writer to select which POV (point of view) to use.

The author’s persona of a fictional narrative can contribute to or mar the success of the story. Much depends on the plot of the story and how the author wishes to develop it. What is the emotional content of the story as a whole and how the individual emotional levels contribute to the total success of the story? There should not be any artificiality about the development of th...

...My History As A I am from Jordan and I came to the United s with my parents when I was 20 years old. My parents were convinced beyond reasonable doubt that the United States was the best place for us to start a new life and make something out of ourselves so we packed out bags and head out for the land promise. We settled in the United States and started a new life. Living in a foreign land has its advantages and disadvantages. On of the main problems that I came across during my first few months in America was the language barrier. I have learned how to speak the English language while I was a student in Jordan but what I learned in school was not the same as the language used in the streets of the United States. My American friends...
