Human abnormal psychology Abnormal psychology is considered to be a study that is related to examining, explaining, and investigating and treating of inadequate behavior concerning cases only in a clinical context (PGS, 2012). This branch of psychology attracts doctors who are interested in people’s behavior, and are ready to make contributions in the research field of this problem. Findings in this area have already introduced a number of theories, paradigms and classifications of abnormal behavior.

Moreover, a wide variety of mental disorders has provided by an effective treatment. The concept of normality and abnormality is regarded as an essential one in the problem under investigation. We used to know that normal behavior is usually predetermined by abidance of regular and rational pattern of behavior that is laid by society (PGS, 2012). Still, such understanding may be mistakable; therefore psychologists have developed different tests and means of control to be sure in psychological status of the patient.

American Psychiatric Association is remained to be an institution that establishes the frameworks for the people with abnormal behavior (PGS, 2012). In other words this association stays the diagnosis for the behaviorally sick people in the territory of USA. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) is the document that designates and categorizes the variety of diseases connected with abnormal behavior (PGS, 2012). We may accentuate the fact that all problems connected with abnormal human behavior may be divided into three groups.

They are considered to be anxiety disorders, affective disorders and eating disorders. Each of these groups has its own peculiar features and is presupposed special attitude and treatment. Anxiety disorders involve cases in which person is experienced fear and anxiety (PGS, 2012). Those people feel nervous and stress-related all the time. They are not able to live in calmness and confidence as the feeling of discomposure and fear are always present in their minds. Such disorders may be an implication of trauma or subsistence of phobia (PGS, 2012).

Such maladies are studied in biological, cognitive and socio-cultural level with the usage of every detail that may be significant for the diagnosis. Affective disorders are regarded as ones that connected with the mood of a person (PGS, 2012). It may be depression or loss of energy, insomnia or diminished ability to think clearly. It should be mentioned that the reasons for such diseases may be completely different and the relevant levels of analysis are biological, mental and socio-cultural.

As for the eating disorders it should be admitted that they are related to strong problems with nutrition (PGS, 2012). The important fact is that the female representatives are more susceptible to this group of disorders than the male ones as ladies are always desired to get rid of overweight. Still, it is remained to be not the only reason for anorexia or bulimia. Psychological, biological and cultural factors are also important. If to talk about treatment all of these groups of disorders include three possible ways to the recovery.

These ways are biomedical therapy, individual and group therapy (PGS, 2012). Each treatment deals with the number of techniques and specialties that help on particular level of disease. All in all, abnormal psychology comprehends a wide variety of questions in its actual branch. People’s behavior and mental health are remained to be hard problems with a lot implicative factors. Theories and investigations are progressive and prosperous what gives a chance to big amount of diseased people to continue a normal life.
