Lüscher Color Test by Uiversity Lüscher color test is a psychological test relating to projective techniques and invented by the Swiss psychologist Max Lüscher. According to the author of the test, perception of colors is objective and universal while color preferences are subjective. Thus, the test can assess subjective psychological state objectively. Since the choice of color is based on unconscious processes of human psyche, it reveals person`s true state. While polling methods turn on conscious mechanisms in a person and as the result we see the person which he/she wants to seem (Lüscher, 1989).

Testing procedure consists in arranging the colors according to their subjective agreeability. Testing is held under natural lighting, however, direct sunlight is inadmissible. The instruction provides a request to distract from the associations connected with fashion, traditions, standard tastes and to try to choose colors basing solely on personal sympathy. The scheme consists of eight colors, for of which are main, and four are supplementary. Color diagnostics of Lüscher allows to make an individual assessment and to make professional recommendations how to avoid a psychological stress and adverse consequences to which it leads.

Besides, Lüscher`s test provides additional information for psychotherapy (Lüscher, 1989).Lüscher`s supporters claim that the test allows to carry out the fast and deep analysis of the personality on the basis of information received from the simple colors arrangement. Nevertheless, there exist numerous doubts regarding the validity of the test. Mostly it is claimed that the generalities are too vague and can be applicable to a great number of people. Moreover, The Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory is believed to be more accurate and relevant nowadays.

Three is also a tendency to pass this test on the Internet which makes the whole procedure violated as people must not be exposed to the colors via screen.ReferencesLüscher, M. (1989). The Lüscher Color Test. Random House: New York
