Each item contains 4 statements, in a sequence with increasing severity regarding a particular area of depression. The highest possible score would be sixty-three if the individual marked number 3 on each of the 21 items. Main items include an individual’s behavior in relation to weight loss, changes in the image of the body, changes in sleep and appetite, and sexual desires. The latest version of Beck’s Depression Inventory contains many revised items, like one item that tapped work difficulty, was replaced by a statement about the loss of energy. Hence, the revised version makes this inventory right in accordance with DSM-IV. This inventory can be self-administered by individuals and is also used by clinicians to measure and assess the rate of depression among their patients. The inventory is a very efficient tool and can examine a person’s depression in a very short time, thus enabling him to get acquainted with his personality and behavioral patterns.  Read More

Glenn Beck, Common Sense

...? “You cannot take away freedom to protect it, you cannot destroy the free market to save it, and you cannot uphold freedom of speech by silencing those with whom you disagree.” (p.17) It was a shocking revelation as I turned over the pages of Glenn Beck’s Commonsense. The book was a real eye-opener about the deteriorating health of America and the unabated hypocrisy of the so-called national leaders. As I read on I could not help supporting Mr Beck for his lash outs against our rulers. Aren’t they responsible for what has happened to the nation? For so long they had been duping us with the big American dream till reality glared on us and suddenly we were sailing on the radar less boat in a stormy sea...

...PPI score (Werner-Wilson & Arbel, 2000). At the same time, MFTs may also turn to individual assessment methods. While these methods may not be created with the family in mind, they can still provide the MFT with valuable information about the members of the family. One such individual instrument is the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI). This instrument is a 21-item self-report questionnaire which assesses whether or not the client possesses depressive symptoms, and the severity of these symptoms (see appendix). This instrument may be given to each member of the family, or only one or two. In either case, the BDI is a very valuable tool for the MFT because of the negative...

Is Glenn Beck a populist

.... He states, “The country you and I grew up in is gone, and it may be gone forever, if we don’t wake up now…. Believe it or not… [politicians] can do [what they want]. He doesn’t even have to ask you anymore. There is a global melt down coming, it is a global depression and one world currency and one world financial system is the end game….Last night, the government gave $900 billion to businesses and secured those loans. Did they even ask you? That’s your money” (Beck, 2010). The rhetoric that Beck uses shows the ideas of a populist mindset, specifically with the corruption of democracy and the powers that are focused on elitism. Phrases such as “did they even ask you” and...

...Graphic Design Manifesto Be Authentic Undoubtedly authenti is a loaded term for many. It is even possible to be authentic? To an extent it seems that some degree of authenticity is achievable in graphic design. It becomes the responsibility of the designer to determine what constitutes authentic within their human experience. This will mean many things for many different people, but at its core it seems to be following an internal flame rather than the current cultural winds. Authentic can be viewed as an aesthetic category, just as much as it constitutes an approach to the work.
