1. What were the results of this study? The results of the study pointed to one thing and that is the fact that the race and cultural orientation of respondents play very significant role in the selection of respondents of any given research work. This is because according to results from the study, there was proof of the hypothesis developed by the researchers that “social relationships would be most consistent with responses given by people from the same cultural background as the test constructor” (Weinfurt and Fathali, 2000).

This is because greater consistency with the variables put forth by the researchers was reached by respondents from Western cultures than those from non Western cultures. Looking at the fact that the researchers and for that matter the test constructors were from Western cultures, it would be true to say that respondents are often biased towards the cultural belongingness of the test constructors. 2. What conclusions did the authors reach? The basis of the results gave the researchers a reason to put in their conclusion that in social research studies, researchers must be highly mindful of the composition of their sample size.

Since there has been proof of cultural and social distance among respondents, any wrong selection process can result in biases in the trend of data to be collected. This note of caution to researchers is especially significant for researchers who may be conducting case studies. This is because in the conduct of case study, results are often generalized to be a representation of concepts as they exist in global contexts. To validity claims of case studies therefore, it is very important that the composition of sample size become one that can be described as universal so that results can have a truly fair and universal representation.3. Why did the authors suggest future qualitative studies?

The suggestion for future qualitative studies is from the fact that it has been proved through the research that for any social centered research theme, there is the highest probability that the issues of cultural and social distance would create a situation whereby respondents would be biased towards certain sides of given variables. For this reason, it is important to have a counter data analysis procedures that presents data in a more empirical and generalized version so that the validity and reliability of results can be enhanced to a very large extend.

This point is being made with the argument that qualitative studies gives researchers more room to conduct personalized data analysis and so they have the power to re-direct the scope of the research if they find it is shifting towards a biased pattern. Again, qualitative studies are suggested because existing forms of quantitative models that may be relied on by researchers may not proof to be perfectly accurate and so a lot of the data collection and analysis must be from the ingenuity of the researcher involved. 4. Do you think these study results are reliable? Why?The reliability of the study may be justified to the study and thus the research may be judged as reliable because the researchers through the need to examine a polytomous concept selected the right model, which was the Bogardus Social Distance Scale when there were other options including the Guttman Scale, which is rather more appropriate for dichotomous concepts.

The researchers were there right in their selection of instruments. With reference to the sampling also, the diversity associated with the research sample selection, which made room for variety of cultural inclusion goes a long way to justify the reliability of the study.
