Persons who are abused live in fright and segregation and all the time feel unprotected at their homes. With marvellous bravery and strength, they fight every day to keep themselves and their children protected. Child abuse and home violence often take place in similar families. Researchers have found that 45 percent to 75 percent of the men who regularly batter their wives also too batter their children. Children are 1,000 times prone to be abused in residences where partner abuse takes place. Domestic violence may lead to physical damage, psychological impairment or disregard of children. There is a distinct association between family violence and infantile delinquency. These young individuals have a five times greater possibility of obligating suicide, thirty percent greater opportunity of committing sexual battering crimes and a sixty percent greater probability of misusing drugs and alcohol. One of the main disastrous outcomes of home violence is that more than half of the youthful men flanked by the ages of fifteen and twenty-six who are in confinement for murder have exterminated their mother’s batterer. Children brought up in aggressive homes do not require to be physically mistreated to take on brutal and felonious behaviour; it is sufficient to have eye-witnessed their mother’s mistreatment (Johnson, 2000, P. 168)....

Whether or not young individuals are physically battered, they frequently undergo emotional and mental distress from living in residence where their fathers mistreat their mothers. Children whose mothers are mistreated are deprived the type of family life that promotes healthy progress. Children who grow up watching their mothers being battered, particularly by their fathers, grow up with a role model of close relations in which individual uses threats and hostility over the other individual to get their way. Since children have an innate affinity to recognize with power, they may be friend themselves with the abuser and loose value for their apparently vulnerable mother.
