The Social Cognitive Theory This theory was developed by Albert Bandura. The theory sees personality as being influenced by the behaviors that come from the normal human being interactions with others. In addition, the theory asserts that human feelings and thoughts come from the social nature of the world. However, it also states that human beings have got the capacity to determine which behaviors are good or bad to them. Human beings have got the ability to self regulate and take part in active thinking process (Ellis, Abrams & Dengelegi 2005). Bandura came up with a concept known as self efficacy which included an individual’s cognitive skills, abilities, and thoughts as shown in an individual’s self-system. Self-efficacy outlines the extent to which an individual is influenced of the abilities and effectiveness in meeting the demands of a particular situation.
