Use of feelings as an appeal to the audience's emotions

Barack Obama has served the American nation for a long period of eight years due to which people feel connected to him. Throughout his journey, he has made sentimental speeches and decisions for the general public of the United States, and the same goes for his farewell speech. A good speaker requires to control his tone and emotions to communicate well with the audience. Obama uses an up-and-down tone to build good communication with his audience. He uses anecdotes and anaphora in his speech that led the listeners to visualize his statement to re reembrace all the efforts and difficulties America has faced in coming to the point where it lies today (Hernandez, n.p). He successfully uses his story to unveil his ventures over the past eight years. His speech was high pitched and louder when he was stating what America has achieved during his presidency, but it slows down and becomes lower when he gave facts and figures on racial beliefs. He skillfully mastered the whole speech in an effective way that no negative impression was delivered to the audience. Of course, he knows how to deliver a speech that will leave a mark on the nation for years because of the hard work he put in the field of communicating with others. From running for president to the farewell speech after almost nine years, one can surely see and improvement ad steady flow in him while delivering his ideas.

Obama's farewell speech has multiple things to discuss to the audience, including the signs of progress he makes, the progress America has made, the relationship he develops with the general public, and how important hard-working people are to him. During his speech, there were many emotional moments when his tone became low pitched and grateful. He was thankful to the public for the tremendous support they have shown him. At the very start of the speech, he thanked the audience, and people with a grateful tone for the immense love people have shown him and his family ("Barack Obama: A Detailed Analysis of His Farewell Speech"). He thanked his dear vice president in the most emotional way possible with an energetic tone by calling him his brother. He thanked his wife Mitchell and pay him wordy tribute for what an extraordinary woman she is. He further thanked his daughters and said that he is most proud to be their father of all the things. After all the grateful statements, He executed his ideas and notion further with an emphasizing tone and tries to inspire the audience by giving them hope for the future and asking them to believe in their abilities to bring the change. He was hopeful for America to be in good hands, and all he wants from people is to play their parts. His speech overall was full of high-pitched and low-pitched voices along with a sprinkle of emphasizing, lighthearted, emotional, and grateful voices. He persuaded the audience to behave well and asked them to be in charge of their fate. His persuasive tone was enough for the audience for extra motivation.

Logical use of Obama's ideas in speech

Farewell speeches in America have become a benchmark for Americans to measure the love and respect a certain president receives from the public. Obama is a loved president, and his farewell speech was full of his emotions and anecdotes. He uses his ideas and notions to support facts and figures to deliver an impactful speech to the nation. He started the speech by giving an insight into the world of how he started working in Chicago when he was in his early twenties. It is always a good idea for a leader or an inspirational personality to provide people with his own experiences to motivate them based on real-life experiences. It has been a tradition among American presidents that they bring out to the general public that how difficult and challenging the job of a president is (Keith, n.p). Usage of logical ideas and inspirational motives are the keys to impactful speech. Barack Obama's adamant focus throughout his speech was hard work and hard-working people. He firmly believes that people who put hard work and sincerity to any work are destined to be successful. Through his examples, he motivates the youth to go with their will power and try to reach their goal with determination and hard work. He supported his words and statements through gestures and non-verbal communication to give a good understanding of what he is saying. He encouraged the people to believe in change and be the reason for change themselves.

Throughout the speech, Obama repetitively uses three parallel notions of past, present, and future (Gallo). He supported his speech with proper pieces of evidence and logic that his ideas stand out and inspire the public. His main focus was to empower the people that they become responsible for their action as well as they become ready to accept the change. He challenged the people of America to become a physical part of their success and come out physically to put an effort in the country's success and development. In the modern world of improving technology, people have become social media army and tend to make all the efforts online rather than participating physically, so Obama pointed them out and asked them to participate actively in all the fields. Youth always has the most potential of all the age groups to bring the change; therefore, Obama pointed them out, especially in a persuasive manner with a purpose to motivate. His speech and expressions were right on point and were full of optimism. He slowly moves to his point rather than abruptly getting to the point. He builds tempo of his ideas and notions and supports his logic with wise words and step-by-step procedures. The sentimental approach was chosen when talking about his close relations, the encouraging approach was chosen while delivering key points of his speech, and a proud approach with motivating words was delivered while he was telling the audience of all the achievements his presidency has made in the United States.

Conclusion

Barack Obama has become a legend an inspiration for all the world, especially Americans, for his hopeful, encouraging, and hard-working personality. He has gained massive respect from his nation. When he first took office, people believed that he would not be able to complete his tenure as he is an African-American, but with time, his policies and decisions for his homeland melt the hearts of Americans, and people began to love his. He has broken stereotypes and has overcome all the barriers that come in his way of running the country successfully. Just as successful his both tenures were, the same has to be his last speech as president of America to his beloved people. His speech was full of motivation and success stories and achievements America has made. He persuaded the people in the best way possible, and people were more than happy to escort him to his last venture as president. Modern-day Americans truly believe that they are indebted to Barack Obama for a lot of facilities and liberty they are enjoying today. His speech marks a huge impact on American society. It will not be wrong to say that it was his speech who motivated people to give space to his successor and not blame him for the difficulties, but people need to change themselves according to changing circumstances.
