Refugee Politics To what extent do you agree with President Trump when it comes to the possibility and focuses on immigration reform in the US? Immigration is a process in which citizens from one country move into another country to live there. The people who run the other state are called immigrants and can be classified into three distinctions as refugees, illegal immigrants and political asylums. Immigration has been taking place over the past centuries, and one of the countries that has felt its impact is the United States (Streissguth, 2009, pp 8).  Over the years, the presidents of the United States have tried to handle this issue but differently. President Barack Obama who is Trump's predecessors tried to control this problem through DACA program which was started by executive orders. His successors President Trumps wants to see real and positive immigration reforms, and he wants to be part of the changes. Trumps wants to see immigration reforms that will focus on improving the jobs and wages for the Americans, strengthening the nation’s security and restoring the respect for the United States of America laws (Taylor, 2005, pp 9-22).  According to the Gallop report released recently more than third of the US citizens prefer fewer immigrants coming into the United States. The US Congress has wrangled over the immigration reforms for more than a decade. As per the 2014 population data, 13.3 percent of the US population was made up of immigrant’s majority of whom were from India, China, Mexico, Canada and the Philippines. With the Trump administration coming into place and putting more focus on the immigration issue I do agree with him that if immigration reforms are done very well, the US citizens have to be the primary beneficiaries. Most of the immigrants who come to the country hope for the best life that is a guarantee of freedom and high opportunities, but this is never the reality. There is rampant discrimination against such immigrants; many families end up being separated, and many people lose their lives in the process of coming into the country (Victor,2007, pp 8-14). The native citizens of the US are therefore affected by the migratory process and have to ensure they put up everything to accommodate some of the asylums. Over the years the immigration to the United States has been affected by the complex demographic, political, and economic and foreign policies. If these issues are addressed very well, then the immigration reform can be handled to the benefit of the US citizens. Even as these changes are made, the fate of more than eleven million undocumented immigrants and rules of legal immigration have to be balanced. After assuming office, Trump immediately put a sign on the executive orders on border security, interior enforcement and refugees (Raymond, 2007, pp 5-11). The immigration reforms to be put in place should have a legal finding that puts status and pathway on the more than eleven million unauthorized immigrants. When this is set into consideration, such immigrants will be part of the increase in the size of the workforce thus increasing output and incomes and at the same time ensuring most of them get modest jobs. The earnings that this sector of the population will earn will automatically increase thus an increase in tax which will be a significant boost to the economy of the US as a whole (HOLZER, 2007, pp 75-78).  Immigrants are not only workers but they are also consumers, and this means with proper legislation in place both the documented and undocumented ones will live peaceful in the country driving business sales in all sectors of the American economy. Laws that are put in place should ensure that those that are accepted to live in the country are encouraged to be entrepreneurs and not just job seekers. They should be allowed to start businesses and even hire the native locals which will be a significant injection of more revenue in the economy and wages for the employed people (Wasem, 2010, pp 4-22).  Immigration significantly has a significant role when it comes to the security of the United States. The US immigration agencies have to ensure they share intelligence information promptly with federal, local and international security agencies. The rise of the immigrants both documented and the undocumented ones have detrimentally affected the state of security in the recent years (Hamlin,2014 pp 187). The previous Obama administration did not enforce the law fairly and equally thus led to many illegal immigrants in the country being protected from deportation and some having pseudo-legal status. Trump at one time did make an order to halt immigration from seven countries around the world which were predominantly Muslim countries. This was a clear communication on which immigrants should be kept out of the US borders . Immigration reforms can only be adopted in the US if the public feel safe and this can only be enhanced by securing the US borders. The current situation of the United States borders has encouraged millions of immigrants into the country illegally. Most of the illegal immigrants are a threat to national security and have led to increased criminal activity within the borders. The immigration laws already in the books should be the first to be enforced as this will be the significant step in securing the southern border which is most affected leading to narcotics and human trafficking in the United States (Babacan & Briskman, 2008, pp 164). The federal immigration law should be fully enforced to ensure that deportation of illegal immigrants from the country takes place so that the American lives are not put at risk. The state has to provide that it puts in place legislation that will allow through vetting of the immigrants from war-torn countries. The nation needs to have adequate plans to protect the citizens from radical extremist coming in the nation (Samuel, H.2009, pp 10-18) Respect of the United States can only be restored if good immigration bills are brought on the floor of the Congress. One of this is the idea raised by President Trump that the young undocumented immigrants in the country should be granted citizenship. This will go along way in ensuring that all the immigrants who are not documented are accounted for, and the same time different cultures that different refugees bring in the country are incorporated into the US to accommodate them. With such proposal bills, it will be a significant step in ensuring the undocumented immigrants overcome the issue of illegality. The government needs to come up with mechanisms to respond with a passion those who are the in the country pursuing the American dream but using broken and unenforced immigration laws. The congress needs to harsh out a policy to handle the immigration issue and at the same time try to put into place legislations that will cater for the inevitable cries of amnesty for the immigrants so that they can feel part being part of the American family (Douglas, 2015, pp 2-5). When this is guaranteed the immigrants have different cultural divisions that might quickly act as a replacement of the existing racial division between the blacks and the whites. At the same time, the inflow of many immigrants should be checked such that all immigrants are allowed to learn English and absorb the US culture. The amnesty act is the crucial step made by the Congress and should be put in practice so that immigration policy rule is restored. It should be ascertained that indeed any laws of immigration that should be put in place ought to serve and protect the interest of the American citizens (BOYER et al. 2017 pp 18-21). During the legislation on the house bill restore respect for immigration law and constitutional process Stern Stated that “ The piece of legislation would in future help to aid in the restoration of the nation's respect for immigration laws and the rights of the American people." He further argued that the leadership in both houses have to act to approve the legislation swiftly. Explanation on what is with the boats following the discussion between President Trump of the United States and Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull President Donald Trump immediately after assuming office had a telephone conversation with the Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull. The discussion of the telephone call is a deal that Prime Minister Malcolm had engaged with the former US president Barack Obama where the US was to take up approximately two thousand refugees from Australia. The refugees from Australia had been detained at the Manus and Nauru islands majorly because they had arrived by boat. Australia has a policy in place whereby it does not allow in the country the immigrants who come by boats (Fishkin & Goodin, 2010, pp 1-3).  Turnbull began the conversation in a way by complementing trump over his first executive orders that were meant to bar immigrants from six Muslim states. In his response, Trump lamented on how his predecessor's administration had to be harder on refugees from Christian origin than their Muslim counterparts. With this in mind, Turnbull thought it would be easy to convince Trump to allow the US to take in the over 2000 refugees that had arrived by boat. Trump is surprised with Australia's stand on the issue of asylums who arrive by boat, but the response from his colleague is that most of the immigrants who come by boats are smugglers and most often a lot of people do drown during the immigration process. It comes out clear from President Trump that the US is not ready to take in any people at all. The reason for Trump’s stand is he doesn’t care how much the refugee US has to take are vetted but their identity (Gibney, 2004, pp 52).  To the leaders of the 2010 federal election in Australia major political parties argued that the unauthorized arrival of immigrants in the country was a significant security threat. The nation had to strive and come up with security frameworks and how to treat asylum seekers on the same. During the 2010 campaigns both major political parties had tried to show that the arrival of the unauthorized immigrants was a significant threat to both the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Australian as well as it national values. The securitization of the asylums in Australia that ensures that the government of the day does not in any way accept individuals to come into the country by boat. It is argued that during the UN conference in September Turnbull outlined to the participants why their immigration policy does not allow immigrants into the country using the shores. He explained that for one to maintain popular for the system Australia has to take care of it borders and it only accepts in immigrants, they have travel visas or arrive by plane as this would guarantee the security checks (Taylor, 2008 pp 1-13). The country has come up with border management and control systems which ensure they are in control of its borders. Some of the border control strategies employed are the advance passenger processing system and the movement alert systems. Through the advance passenger processing systems, all the forty-seven airlines in the country have to undertake this task. When any passenger checks at the international airports and is destined into the country-specific information about the passenger, have to be fed into the system. The system is automated such that it can detect if the passenger has a valid visa or passport to Australia. If approved such passengers are allowed to travel to the country but if not the immigration department has to act accordingly. The service does not in any way give a chance to asylum seekers (Matt, 2011 pp 2-8) The country has further put in more effort to try and convince the neighboring regional countries to adopt the system. The adoption of the system by regional countries in the Asia-Pacific region will go a milestone in ensuring that the Australia as the country can intercept or identify travels or immigrants before getting to the state. The movement alert system abbreviated as MAL is a computer database that houses details of all people and their travel documents. The MAL system has been adopted by Australian government majorly because of immigration concerns. By liaising with the law enforcement agencies and both departmental offices in the country and oversees the department of immigration can track allot of records about those intending to travel to the Australia. The MAL system can detect individuals with criminal records, those with debts to commonwealth nations, those with criminal records and even fraudulently acquired or altered passports (Bauder, 2012 pp 45-70). All these checks have to be done during the period of visa processing. To curb the issue of letting in illegal people through the airports the immigration department in Australia has further incorporated the APEC regional movement passports system which allows the detection of stolen and lost passport data of all the countries in the region. To ensure its borders are well protected and that only refuges allowed in the country are those who can be identified Australian department of immigration provides infrastructure, equipment, technical assistance and training to officials of regional nations. Pasic Island states can receive through the migration, custom and law enforcement agencies a lot of practice in a wide range of border control training. The Australian federal police mainly do the border control training in-conjunction with the immigration department. IOM has benefited from such training where Australia has undertaken to fund it for enhancement of the migration management project in Cambodia. The project was on the provision of advice and the design of migration legislation as well as putting into place a digitized border processing and visa issuance (Melissa, $ Kahli, 2017, pp 42-62). In the 2006/ 07 budget, the Australian government included a budget of close to 7.1 US dollars for its custom service to work in three countries namely Indonesia, Malaysia and Philippines. The funds were mainly for improving the border control management in the areas of Sulu, and Celebes Sea region which are always busy and thus securing them is always a challenge. The government of the day also works with the two Thai airports where I document examination equipment that aid in strengthening the border management and key border check point. To ensure the borders are well taken of the Australia provides the lion share of its border control capacity assistance to Indonesia. This is so because it is believed most of the unauthorized immigrants in Australia are via Indonesia. Indonesia receives a lot among then training of border-related control, infrastructure, equipment and patrol boast. The issue with boats is taken seriously by the Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull in their conversion with President Trump, and this is an apparent indication that Australia follows its policy to the latter by not allowing in refugees who come using the water. The systems and legislation that have been put in place are indeed useful as they aid in ensuring there is reduced illegal entry in the country. Bibliography BABACAN, A., & BRISKMAN, L.
