Remarks by the President to the Nation on the BP Oil Spill Essay. https://studentshare.org/politics/1885824-assignment.
The paper "Remarks by the President to the Nation on the BP Oil Spill" is an excellent example of an essay on politics.
CONTENT: The president highlighted the key points in the action plan and the way in which the administration proposed to hold BP responsible for the clean up as well as extract compensation and damages from them. The president was clear about the way in which he intended to address the root causes of such incidents and not repeat them. The president also made it clear that this was not the last battle that the US is going to face and that the nation must be prepared to face the challenges in the future as well.
INTRODUCTION: Because there has never been a leak this size at this depth, stopping it has tested the limits of human technology.
PARTITION: Tonight I’d like to lay out for you what our battle plan is going forward: what we’re doing to clean up the oil, what we’re doing to help our neighbors in the Gulf, and what we’re doing to make sure that a catastrophe like this never happens again.
CONCLUSION: The oil spill is not the last crisis America will face. This nation has known hard times before and we will surely know them again. What sees us through -– what has always seen us through –- is our strength, our resilience, and the unyielding faith that something better awaits us if we summon the courage to reach for it.
DELIVERY: The strength of the speech was the force with which President Obama made his points. The body language, as well as the tone of the speech, inspired confidence. The weakness of the speech was it should have been less cerebral.
AUDIENCE ANALYSIS AND ADAPTATION: As I mentioned in the last sentence, the speech should have addressed the issue of those segments that make up the majority according to the demographic composition of “middle America”.
OVERALL EVALUATION: The greatest strength of the speech is the oratory and the way in which the speech was composed. In my opinion, there is no apparent weakness.
