Party nomination process has been reliant on the policies held in the candidates, who have been selected to bid for their spot for the available position after meeting the set strategies in the policy formation. Though most individuals mostly witnessed the already selected candidates to vie for the top most position, the process has not been as simple, and might have been imagined because the provisions entail a long process to select the best candidate in the party representation. Amongst the mostly contested race was the 2008 elections that pitted Hillary Clinton against Barack Obama, to define the complicated process of the candidate selection. There is the need to not the measure applied in the selection process to accord the conditions necessary for a candidate to obtain permission to be the represent their party, during the general election. The U.S. party nomination process has been articulated by complex strategies in the representative’s selection and an outline to the process offers the best solutions to interpret the selection procedure. In the candidate selection, the rules presented in the selection process are determined by the party policies. The nomination process ensures an authentic candidate who has met all the required procedures has been in the nomination list in a legal way. In the election process, parties may produce several candidates to represent their interest because of diversity in ideology. However, there is the need to define the candidate who holds the best policies among the given list of potential candidates. The list should be narrowed into a sustainable number that offers a confident selection of the representative. The candidate selection process is diversified and the criteria involved may be in different categories. The political parties have been established as the key to presenting an easier selection in determining the best candidate to highlight the policies of their party. Democracy has been the basis involved in representative selection process, although few parties present the legislative measures in candidate selection. The leading forms of selection within the party have been in centralization and participation. The centralization process is used to select the level involved within the party nomination that is conducted on the local or national level. In the system, the national party agency would determine the decision without the opinion of the local branches. The same is evident on the lower scale where the local branches issue independent decisions to compile the list of the candidates. Most party selection is done on the local level to compete on the national front, even though; the national popularity holds a renowned importance in determining the candidates that would represent the party. The strategy would involve including the members at the local level to endorse a national candidature and the national candidate to issue the required support to move the local setting into favoring their policies. In participation, the numbers are the determining factor involved within the selection process. The situation that presents low participation would be in the reluctance of the members to vote and allow the party leader to assume the selection process. A situation may be witnessed where the ordinary members engage in the process to select the members without the party officials. The determination of the process involves those who are present on the day of selection to be supervised by the government. The parties pick the candidates to be accorded the positions in the summer years through the decisions made by the delegates. The delegates are further divided into a selection in pledged and superdelegates. The pledged delegates are selected under the merit of the electoral result after the state and primary selection, while superdelegates are long term party members voting upon choice. The candidate who has the leading delegate votes is accorded a win because each delegate vote is counted equally. The most intriguing evidence of the election process includes the role of the superdelegate who may decide to accord the vote to a single candidate. The votes may be presented to favor the results to the candidate who is witnessed to hold the decision in the pledged delegates. The caucuses and primaries are the chief determinants involved in relaying the primary delegate vote. The situation in Republicans and Democrats The historical evidence suggests that the race to attaining the representative had been concluded before the convention (Wilson, John and Meena 324). The candidate had been linked to gain majority of the delegate votes in the primaries and the caucuses to accord candidature to the party. By the time the decision is realized, the superdelegates play a minimal role in deciding the candidate because the party would have already selected their candidate. In 2008, Hillary and Obama presented the competition to present equal votes in the pledged delegates. The nominations presented the need to involve the superdelegates whom the candidates had to convince to swing the votes in their favor. The data presented involved the authentication of 2025 delegates to pass the needed voting process in the primaries. Both candidates in the Democrats party lacked the needed number to win the progress in the delegates alone. Hillary withdrew from the race to accord Obama the support needed from the delegates and superdelegates to nominate him as the contender (Aljherrma). The republicans, on the other hand, present a delegate number to amount 2260, where 132 are superdelegates (Aljherrma). The rest are chosen within the state level to issue a recommended number in attaining the winning number. The similar case to that in the Democrats case may be evident with the numbers presented in the candidature in Mitt Romney, Roy Paul and Rick Santorum. The primaries and the decision of the pledged delegates would determine the shape of the nomination process towards the convention after the primaries. Policies The policies addressed have shifted from a political year to the other with many promising a better livelihood within the society. However, there are the leading issues that emerge as the most striking and need immediate attention to sway voters into preferring a mentioned candidate (Maisel and Mark 69). The best candidate usually offer satisfactory developments witnessed in developing the poor economies and balancing political power to a devolved system without favoring a given setting The society has also presented the need to be identified in gaining benefits in health, tax reduction and adequate employment conditions. Terrorism acts have been included in the previous campaigns with the Middle Eastern nations proving to be the threat to sustenance within the US environment. The provisions have been extended to the schooling system and providing an equality platform. The threatening issues would be highlighted in taxes and developmental programs to be carried across the states. Who will win The Democratic Party candidate and the current President Obama has gained the most popularity and promise in the current political state. His policies have brought change to elevating families and sustaining growth within an economic deprived condition. Obama has also excelled in the fight to sustain peace as the persistent Osama had been assassinated under his government. Foreign policies in implementing a stable platform for negotiations and humanitarian actions have gained international support to put US on a positive platform. Therefore, I expect President Obama to continue his term ahead of candidates like Mitt Romney. Conclusion The party nomination process is presented in careful stages to issue the means in presenting successful candidates in representing the party. The Democrats and Republicans have held different campaigns in defining their policies and emerged as the leading parties in the American society. However, needs to highlight the measures applied in party selection have been extended to the intricate process included in candidate selection. The candidate who has been approved as the most influential has been named in the conventions after the primary selection.
