The victory in the Spanish-American civil war transformed America into the most powerful imperialist force in the world and a nation having the capacity to override Britain and Spain in such matters (Sullivan, 27-30). Any of the wars fought by America can in no way be considered as related to the idea of manifest destiny. In the Spanish civil war, America’s aim was to colonize Cuba and Puerto Rico, an aim in which the US succeeded very well (Sullivan, 27-30).
