Aeronautical Science Describe static strength in terms of loads and load factors Static strength is the influence of pure immobile loads with none of the complications of the reiteration or cyclic deviation of loads. The load factors are the maximum and minimum factors expected during service and include the negative and positive values (Dorf n.p). In that accord, a limit load is an important reference point in the static strength requirement.2. Describe air pressure loads on an airplane. What happens as velocity changes?

Air pressure load on an airplane is the balance of the air pressure passing through the top of the wing to reduce pressure and support flight. Specifically, a reduction in the air pressure on top, followed by an increase in the force below the wing facilitates an upward movement of the plane (Dorf n.p). The changes in pressure cause a change in velocity (accelerations) resulting in motion if the balanced forces are maintained.3. Factors to consider when choosing a rivet layout, size, and materialIn choosing a rivet, it should be made of the same materials as the object being fastened, have an equal length to the thickness of the two objects, select non-corrosive ones, the diameter must fit the hole of installation, and have a countersunk head because of the wind resistance concern (Dorf n.p).4.

Selecting a fluid line The selection of a fluid line for a machine has a substantial impact on its performance and the life of its hydraulic components. The following are the essential elementsSpeed and accuracy of operationAvailability of replacement (Mobley 47)Cost of transmission linesSurrounding atmospheric conditionsContamination potentialRequired pressure levelSafety to the operator (Mobley 47)Expected service life5. What is meant by "Modulus of Elasticity"?The modulus of elasticity is the rate of change of strain as a function of stress.

Specifically, this is the slope of the straight-line portion of a stress-strain graph. Furthermore, it can be described as the mathematical description of an objects affinity to be distorted elastically when energy is applied to it (Fang 304). The application of force result in the formation of a stress-strain curve (slope) called the Modulus of Elasticity.6. Describe elastic and plastic properties of materials. The plastic property of a material is the plastic deformation that occurs when there is adequate stress to deform a metal permanently.

Specifically, it involves the movement of dislocation that breaks limited number of atomic bonds (Fang 307). On the other hand, elastic property or deformation is a temporal change in the shape of a metal at a little stress that allows the material to self-reverse to its original form.Works CitedDorf, Richard C.
