When the rays of sun shine on water droplets in the open atmosphere, a rainbow is formed. Rainbow is formed depending on the frequency of light. When a ray of light passes into a water drop from air, the color component of light moves in a slow speed and depending on the frequency’s they have, they move with different speeds. The violet light, which is the lowest in the rainbow color order, bends at a very tight angle when entering the raindrop. In the drops right hand side, some light is returned to the air while the rest is reflected backward. A portion of the reflected light moves out of the drops left side. D H Lawrence's 'The Rainbow' (language desire and the subversion of gender)
... A Critical Analysis of the Subversion of Gender and the Birth of a Feminine Self in Rainbow In his novel “The Rainbow” D.H. Lawrence attempts to explore into the feminine self (or being) by subverting the traditional patriarchy-acknowledged gender-role of women in a male dominated society. Disparaging the Victorian ideals of femininity, Lawrence’s women are found to be self-willed enough to “look out from farm life to the far-off world of cities and government and the active scope of man” (Lawrence 2008, p. 35). But these Brangwen women are not courageous enough to rebel against the patriarchy-authorized social feminine role. For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide/When the Rainbow is Enuf
...For Colored Girls who have considered Suicide/When the Rainbow is Enuf Ntozake Shange’s masterly poem is the most illuminating and poignant story I have ever read about black women in America. The writer puts forth her work from two angles. One of them elaborates about rape and other atrocities against black women in sad detail, depicting the physical and emotional abuse and trauma that black women suffer at the hands of insensitive black men. The other angle highlights the strong will and ability of black women, their grit and determination, all of which enables them to survive even after being repeatedly struck down. Rape is undoubtedly the most heinous crime against women. There is an underlying feel... Colored...

Comparitive Paper on Ways of Knowing and The Serpent and the Rainbow
...societies led by vodoun priests. These priests are believed to communicate with all the spirits that inhabit the everyday world. These priests or bokors can capture the soul and spirit of any living individual and turn them into zombies. Wade Davis in his book “The Rainbow and the Serpent” explores the practice of zombification. The bokor administers a potion to his victim, who plunges into a state of coma or suspended metabolism, his heart rate dips much below normal. The victim is buried. The bokor returns after dark, exhumes the body and then gives the victim another potion that brings him ‘back to life’ but psychologically he has lost his will altogether and is completely under the bokor’s influence. Davis...
