Project Outline
Social Networking and its Effects on Adolescence
In a recent study, it has been observed that social media has an adverse effect on teens. Masses of the youth population are the largest users of social networking sites and spend a larger portion of their day in web sharing. As argued by various theorists, social networking sites acts as a reason for social compensation among young adults. Moreover, this even creates a tendency for this group of people, to be more focused on virtual relationships than creating a traditional social relationship (Das & Sahoo, 2011; Eckerd College, n.d.).

Social Networking Creating Psychological Distances
It has been observed that the inclination towards social networking has rapidly gained momentum in the present world. This phenomenon has been instigating psychological distances among the real world on one hand and reducing distances among the virtual world on the other. People are observed to be more comfortable in building a virtual relationship than a traditional relationship. Moreover, through these ‘social networking sites’ people can mitigate their feeling of loneliness easily. These tendencies have in turn increased the individual’s dependency on social networking sites and thus social relationships are being hampered (Das & Sahoo, 2011; Marlow & Dabbish, 2011).
Social Networking in Shaping Personal Character
It has been observed that through social networking people get to know each other, which helps them to communicate easily. In contrary to this phenomenon, it can be argued that social networking websites make the introvert more secluded from the real world. This blocks the person's mental development and prevents the person from spending quality of life. This attachment with the virtual world increases the person’s isolation from the real world (Jackson, 2010).

Social Networking Improving Communication
The different modes of social networking increase the amount of sharing of information and personal characteristics. This in turn develops the ability to communicate among the individuals. With the ability to communicate in a successful way an individual will be able to enhance his/her level of self-reliance and success. Moreover, the continuous flow of communication among a group of individuals will help in curtailing down the barriers that may arise during the time of making effective communication (Baruah, 2012).

Social Networking in Curbing Consumer Behavior
Recently, the virtual market has been gaining its impetus and the consumers are more inclined towards buying goods from the internet than from the traditional market. The online stores have been converting users into consumers and have been influencing their psychosocial characteristics. Moreover, the latest trend is to suggest that consumers are more inclined in collecting information about products and services from online sources (Ioanas & Stoica, 2014).
