In conflict with this sympathetic undertone is Medea’s barbarian identity which would antagonize a 5ht century Greek audience. Moderation as a theme in the play is a popular value in ancient Greece. Actions of Medeia were seen as erratic because they were not in described moderation and also in the time of play. From the play, women did not have much view on what was going on in the play.
Of the Greek ideas was moderation for example love moderation and the result being harmony and balance. The children and childless theme also runs through the play. Medea kills her sons in order to make Jason be hurt, and yet by doing so she knows she is also he hurt from her own activity. Medea is a lady of extreme emotion and extreme behavior. For Medea’s passionate love for Jason, sacrificed all, committing unspeakable acts on his behavior. Jason’s betrayal has transformed passion into rage.
Medea’s intemperate and violent heart, formerly devoted to Jason, is now set on his destruction. Greatness and pride are a trait that can make a man or a woman to be destructive. In the play, the Euripides plays with the idea of greatness, often to surprising effects. Medea has some creating of a great hero. Medea’s greatness of intellectual and self-absorption are beyond doubt, but reduce filed for these talents makes her intro a monster. Pride related to greatness is likewise distorted.
As many disasters give us a kind of clean satisfaction in the tragic, any gratification gained from watching Medea takes perverse form. Pride drives Medea to unnecessarily brutal action. Current audiences have difficulty to convince how exile is horrible for the ancient Greeks. For the sake of her husband, Medea made herself and exile.
