 Eichmann in Jerusalem Eichmann in Jerusalem started when Arendt went to Jerusalem to report the trial of Eichmann on the New Yorker. Eichmann was accused of crimes against humanity, wars, and Jewish people. Eichmann was a Nazi military officer who was among the key figures in the time of the holocaust. Eichmann was later jailed after being accused of the crimes, but he was not the only one who commit the crimes. He was the only one accused because he was diagnosed of having mental problems and being insane. It was assumed that the insane people commit the crimes of such a kind. This was wrong because the crimes can be committed by anyone irrespective of the mental status. For example, in 2002 Maya Kodnani sponsored the killing of 95 in Gujarat riots by handing out swords to the mobs. He was sober, but he committed the crime with diligence. Maya is sane as he operates a clinic and he is the gynecologist by profession (Haugen 189). In addition, Tytler Jagdish was among the key individuals who participated in the Progrom of 1984 against the Sikhs. He was a normal human being and not insane compared to Eichmann. This means that Eichmann was murdered as a sacrifice for many others who committed the crimes. The diagnosis made by the doctors contributed more of the inhuman activities against him. The writer who is Arendt was trying to shelter herself using the crimes that Eichmann was accused of committing. She used sarcasm in her presentation for readers to understand her contempt on Eichmann instead of presenting Eichmann’s internal instances. Arendt considered and described Eichmann as self-absurd and pathetic creature who does not understand the alternatives steps in his actions (Haugen 91). The presentation was meant to shock readers that Eichmann cannot understand even the obvious things. This also described Eichmann that he does not exist in the universe of morality where normal things are done. The strategy in which Arendt used did not allow Eichmann to defend himself in the court. The readers were made to understand that the judges made decisions on their own understanding and not as per Arendt’s narrative. The judges viewed how Eichmann’s followed his external orders and not by his defense. Arendt disagreed with those who described the narrative about Eichmann as being unreliable. She said that the defense and the prosecution have their judicial roles. The prosecutors did not belief on what Eichmann was saying because he believed they were not among his duties. My visit at the Holocaust Museum was very important, as I was able to read how Eichmann was mistreated. This visit informed and shaped o how we shall treat each other in the society. Eichmann was fighting was fighting for the rights of the people together with many others. This result to killing of many innocent people (Haugen 131). This helped me to know that we shall treat all people equally irrespective of their positions in the government or community. For example, Eichmann was the only one who was judged and murdered because of the killings yet many other people who were not judged. It was a kind of discrimination and it should be condemned in our communities and worldwide. Lest innocent Blood Shed Lest Innocent Blood shed was initiated by Philip Hallie for the remembrance of how people and children who were injured and others murdered were treated in camps. This is because the people who survived the brutal act were becoming aged and their survival story would end without being read by other people. The story was about how the people of Le Chambon village were tortured by their enemies. This story was of courage and faith to the Christians whose lives were at great costs (Haugen 73). Those who survived were living under the leadership of Pastor Andres Trocmes who believed on sermon of the mount. This practice made the pastor and his family rescue people in the village of between 3000 and 5000 during the Holocaust. The families and children who were rescued lived in private schools and others in pastors home. Pastor’s wife was courageous that she even welcomed and eat food with police who were coming to kill her husband. She was receiving many questions as to why she was sharing food with enemies who wanted to kill her husband. She could answer them that the enemies stood with her when angry and food was ready that they had to share together. Andre Trocme committed himself to visiting the people in their homes and refugee camps where they were sheltering. He also committed himself by attending and participating for the success of all the community residents. It reached a time where the pastor asked if it would reach a time in World War II where people could resist in a non-violent way without fighting (Haugen 125). The answer got was that the foundation must lay in the first place before focusing on how people would act. The people of Le Chambon would see theology in a practical manner through their pastor as the word of God came true. This is because of what they were undergoing during the fight and how their pastor was treating them without any payment. They were sharing what their pastor brought to them be it food water or even a word of God. What I will advise anyone is that lest the innocent blood be shed on him or her. This will motivate everyone in the community and nationally to assist one another when there is happiness or difficulties. This should be practiced without boundaries by using Pastor Andres as a role model. This will make people in the community to live in peace when they are in church or anywhere else in the community. If the pastor and his family were discriminative and jealous, they would have spent most of their time with the family and ignores the community members. In addition, he would not have shared anything he had with the people. His Christian belief made him assist and save the victims in the village (Haugen 96). The story of Eichmann and Pastor Andres should be used as a weapon to change our lives and how we relate with other people in the community. We should treat each other equally irrespective of our status, for example, Eichmann should have been treated like others. Instead, false allegations were forced on him leading to his murder. He should have been judged equally with others who committed the same crimes. The reading of lest innocent blood shed shaped and inform me that we shall be ready to help each other in the community and all over the world. This is because as we are living different people underwent different kinds of difficulties and we shall be ready to assist. In the reading, I read how innocent residents together with their children were brutally murdered(Haugen 54). The pastor and his family volunteered to spend most of their time assisting the victims by housing them in their home and schools. He visited them frequently and we shall emulate the same in our communities and nationally. This will guide us on how we shall live in harmony with the heart of assisting each other.
