Extract of sample "Ethics of Care State"

Organizations following the rule of ethics may resort to producing goods such as clothes and blankets as these are necessities that individuals require. These organizations would care about the issues that their employees are experiencing and help them in solving those issues; they would ensure that consumers get value for money. These organizations may give importance to corporate social responsibility and invest in it as they may believe that they are responsible for the overall environment.

Businesses following this rule of ethics would produce legal goods that are acceptable to everyone, they would give benefits to employees for achieving aims and objectives as they would want employees to work harder in return for benefits, they would not cheat customers to ensure that customers have a positive idea about their products and they would invest their money for the betterment and wellbeing of all the stakeholders involved. The ethics of utilitarianism states that actions should be judged on the basis of consequences and those actions that result in a higher number of benefits should be considered ethical. Organizations working under this rule of ethics will create products that benefit the society, will treat their employees well because they know that if employees are treated well, then other stakeholders of the organization will be satisfied, they will follow rules and regulations while dealing with consumers to ensure that society benefits, they will use the high-quality raw material to ensure that the product is of high quality and will invest in the well being of the society by participating in CSR programs.

When companies act in an unethical manner, fines are levied on them in monetary terms by the justice system and the government. Companies may even end up losing their market share if they act unethically, this kind of punishment is recognized as an equity fine and these are much harmful than monetary fines (Isaacs 145). Companies are required by government and law to make a public announcement of their unethical activity, this event becomes very embarrassing for the organization and this act is recognized as corporate shamming and the worst kind of punishment for an organization’s unethical activities (Pollock 328). All companies work with the motive of making profits and extra-normal profits, if an organization operates in an ethical manner they may have to compromise on this motive.

An organization may end up experiencing groupthink by operating in an ethical manner because while operating ethically, a decision is made on the basis of the masses and not on the basis of individuals. In certain cases go public if they have acted in a wrong manner or if they have created a product that can harm the consumers. This act can result in strategic misrepresentation due to which no one would buy the product if the product is dangerous. It is mandatory for all organizations to operate in accordance with the rules and regulations set by themselves and the government this is because everyone should be treated equally and if citizens have to abide by rules and regulations then businesses should even do the same. They should not get away with actions such as murder because human life is of great importance and its value can not be judged in accordance with monetary loss.
