The Metro Airport is a fairly large airport that has many flights come in and out every day. The airport is one of the largest in Michigan. The Detroit Metro Airport has weather alert conditions. A recent blizzard swept over the area on February 2nd causing bad weather conditions. The bad weather caused many delays in many different areas besides the Metro Airport. The airport has few delays and some cancels due to the weather. The flights coming in and out during the peak of the storm were cancelled until better weather. The runways became full of snow because of the storm but have been quickly cleared. The runways currently in use are runways 03, 04, and 09. The typical runways sizes are 8,000 to 12,000 in length. The runways are made out of concrete and in good condition. Each runway has lights and can be used during all conditions. The airport has most of the planes out of base and moving passengers. There are 5 jets and 1 multiengine aircrafts at the Detroit Metro Airport not in use. The average number of flights per day is 660 commercial air flights, 579 air taxis, and 26 GA Transients. Aircrafts arriving and departing will travel over water to reach one of the runways. The airport has several remarks describing the airports conditions. There is a remark that states there are birds on and in the vicinity of the airport. Too many birds will make an airport undesirable to aircraft carriers.
