A service that I utilize a lot during the last couple of years is the service of the local library. Every time I go to the library I have been always satisfied with the level of service I received from the employees. Sometimes I needed help finding books and journals at the library. The librarian helped me find the literature I needed. The employees usually go out of their way and stop everything they are doing to assist. The workers at the library are very nice and attentive. Their attention to detail is amazing because the workers there are always looking for ways to improve their level of service.
I perceived the service at the library to be excellent because the treatment I receive from the workers of the library is based on mutual respect. The library is very well organized which is attributed to the efforts of the employees of the organization. A bad service experience I had recently was during a visit to a local barbershop. When I entered the barbershop over 10 people were waiting to get cut. Only two employees were working at the barbershop. The barber kept talking to each other instead of doing their work.
I estimated that it took over 30 minutes to cut the hair of each customer. At other barbershops I have gone to it usually takes less than 15 minutes per person. The price of the barbershop was also not to my liken. The barbershop was charging $18 per haircut. I usually pay between $10 and $12 for a haircut. After a two and half hour's wait, I finally got served by the barber. The person that attended to me was very rude and a bit slow. I had to explain to him three times what type of haircut I wanted.
While he was cutting my hair he cut me two times. He said he was sorry twice, but he should have been more careful and attentive while doing his job. During my hair cut the barber kept talking to the other barber about the things they did on the weekend while hanging out. I thought that the conversation the barbers were having was unprofessional. The barber never directed the conversation toward the customer. The barber is supposed to be serving the customer, not having chit-chat with their colleagues.
When I was going to pay for the service I took out a $20 bill and the barber said he did not have any change. I had to go out to another store to ask for a change to then come back and pay the barber. Overall the service I received at this barbershop was catastrophic.
